Status Updates From Star Wars: Shadow Games

Seeing as they went to Alderaan, and Leia was there, it means it probably the actual Death Star plans. So what did Kyle Katarn steal, and what did Bria die sending? Also, the fact that Han was literally on Alderaan, basically in the same room as Leia, just a little bit before EpIV is dumb. The fact that Dash warms up to the Rebellion due to a woman (Javul) makes him even more of a Han Solo copy than he already was.

Dash and Han return to Tatooine, and it's basically implied that Han was heading off right then and there to his first scene in EpIV. However, that seems to retcon the ending of Rebel Dawn, where Han (and Chewie) had been in Mos Eisley for like a week before meeting Obi-Wan and Luke, and Boba Fett had tracked him down the day before to tell him about Bria being dead (god, that was so dumb).

This is the last novel in the timeline before EpIV. I was talking with my friend last week, and he asked if I was going to read the EpIV novelization. Honestly hadn't even occurred to me before he asked. Wasn't thinking about it at all. I do a physical copy of all 3 OT novelizations on my bookshelf. But I don't feel like it. I might rewatch the movie, though. It's been a long time. Also, it was recently May 4th.

They just used the term 'Galactic East.' I don't think I've ever seen any space-related fiction using cardinal directions for space travel. In fact, the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. What the hell are you using for north? The center of the galaxy? It doesn't work!

IDK man, maybe the subsect of teras kasi that Eaden belonged to was garbage if one guy was able to kill all of them. They're supposed to be martial arts masters. But one guy killed them all.

I don't really have anything to comment on about the story at this point.
There's something about this ebook that's been weird, and I've never seen before. Using my preferred ereader font, all of the italics in this ebook are also bolded. It doesn't do this with any other font. It's not a big deal, but I do find it very strange. I've used this font for years, and italics were always normal before now.

Alright, alright, I was wrong again. There were more reveals after all. Not sure I'm crazy about how it's yet another story related to the Death Star plans, but... ok. At least it's something. (They didn't mention it by name, but it's clearly what was being implied.)

Oh, ok, Eaden actually is Force-sensitive. I rescind my previous criticism. They made it sound like it was just a Nautolan thing. Maybe that's because this is written from Dash's perspective, and he doesn't know any better.

They confirmed that the most obvious and standard explanations for why these things are happening is true. Boring and supremely disappointing. Unless there's another twist coming, but I kind of doubt it.

IDK if this was established in the (old) canon elsewhere, but making Nautolans be like semi-Force-sensitive with emotion sensing stuff is kind of dumb. Yeah, Kit Fisto was a Jedi Master. A Jedi! That's explainable! Eaden is just a smuggler copilot. Making the entire race be capable of sensing stuff is silly.

Eh. I'm hoping there are more (and actual) reveals that explain things better. Because if there are no twists or whatever, then Javul is just an idiot and acting really stupid, and that's not a good story.
Seems like turning off the wifi and autosync really did help the Kobo's battery. Only has gone down 2% in the last day, which is massive improvement over the rate it had been doing.

Are we supposed to pretend that Javul being Alai Jance is an actual reveal? I's totally not. That bullshit she fed earlier was obviously a lie, but Dash seemed to buy it. Dumb. Also, this story makes very little sense. She essentially entered witness protection to escape her criminal fiancé but then she just continued being a pop star with the exact same act under a different name?? That's beyond fucking stupid

He just used the word doggedly twice in back-to-back paragraphs. That's not a common enough word to get away with that without it sticking out like a sore thumb. I know it's being super nitpicky, but still, that's the type of thing an editor should've pointed out.
Been thinking this for awhile - the name 'Javul Charn' is very weird. It doesn't sound like a woman's name at all. I wonder why they went with it.

I charged my Kobo up to ~95% on the day I got it, and it's already down to 40% not even 2 weeks later. My Kindle originally would last months. I was worried it was a result of my new reading habit. It's less about the charge and more about worrying it will eventually kill the screen, like with what happened to my Kindle. But I turned wifi and autosync off and it seems to have improved? I'm still monitoring it to see

I don't have much of an opinion yet, but this seems to be more up my alley. Shaping up to be a fairly standard Star Wars romp.
I'm not a fan of how they keep referring to women as 'fem.' It's weird.

Seems like a small error - it just mentioned the strife between the Besadii and 'Jiliac' Hutt clans, but Jiliac was in the Desilijic clan, and not the name of the whole thing. Side note, what a travesty that Crispin's shitty novels had to be referenced in any regard, lol.

Another book that I originally had no plans to read, but then figured might as well. The last book in the timeline before ANH.
This one has Dash Rendar AND Han Solo in it. Everyone knows Dash Rendar is just the dollar store Han Solo they made for the big Shadows of the Empire multimedia blitz. Having them both together seems redundant.
