The story lines are more robust than I thought they would be during the first few chapters. It is the kind of book I wish I were reading with a book club for discussion. Lots of substance.

Zealot provides a lot of cultural and political detail of the time, keying into my love of history. There are great discussions on who did, said and wrote what, when and why that appeal to my analytical side. Enjoying the read immensely.

Wonderful readable in part because of its conversational tone accompanied by interest-grabbing anecdotes to illustrate the points being made.

Great thought .... "Growing up is difficult. Strangely, even when we have stopped growing physically, we seem to have to keep on growing emotionally, which involves both expansion and shrinkage, as some parts of us develop and others must be allowed to disappear... Rigidity never works; we end up being the wrong size for our world."

Intrigued. I wonder what power the traditional king does have.

Rose is reading The City of Mirrors (The Passage, #3)
The suspense is building ..... I'm not sure all of the key characters can possibly survive . Do I keep reading to find out, or stop reading because I don't want to lose any of them ..... ?

Many have wondered who voted the Conservatives a majority in 2011 and why. The book is providing much logicial insight.

Fascinating, though I'm not sure I like the direction the book indicates we are going in

"The 41st Canadian General Election is a fracture in time. Looking back, analysts will consider the years that came before it as part of one era, and the years that came after as part of another. Why? Because May 2, 2011, cemented the new Canadian politics."

Reading about the outcome of genetic manipulation of our food ... and some animals, and even humans in a time when gas and oil are no longer available. No worries, it's only fiction ....

Hmm.... something I didn't think would happen ... did ..... Dorothy Dunnett surprised me. I never know what she is going to have the characters do! Great read, on with the next, and sadly, the last.
