Al Ewing is stringing along the Hulk mythos perfectly for new-comers and long-time hulk readers. These personalities tumbling around in Banners brain and body are making his mental state extremely interesting to read. And with each issue I feel is establishing very cool abilities Banner has that may have always been there.

Al Ewing is tugging at my heart strings with this Lovecraftian/ Jekyll & Hyde themed horror story. Really making me go “WHY hasn’t anyone done this before?!” Between “The Green Door” and “The One Below” Ewing is setting up these moments of “incomprehensible terror”. Bennett’s art style is also a perfect match, and I catch a bit of Bernie Wrightson inspo in that ink work. Loving this.

This has been an epic of biblical proportions. I've enjoyed it 10x more than I thought I was going to. Mister Miracle is by far my favorite title of the bunch so far. It's written in such a modern way & it really makes me appreciate the Tom King run of the character even more. The dichotomy that is making Orion suffer is the most intriguing part besides Darkseid's motives themselves. Kirby did his THANG on this one.

Zero Year has been an incredible chore to get through. I'm usually okay with Snyder being dialogue heavy because he writes it so well, but much of this character dialogue feels like an after-school special. I mean the characters just go on and on, even Batman. After Court of Owls and Death of The Family, it's been a huge blow to momentum at this point.

Scott Snyder’s voice he brings to the world of Batman fits right at home and gives a gritty and twisted darkness to Gotham that’s always been there but feels fresh and alive. The Court of Owls was a crazy new spoke to add to the wheel, and what he’s doing with the Joker is appropriately insane. It’s chilling. Capullo’s artwork also feels to be an extension of Spawn into Gotham. Shady, jagged and raw.

Realized while reading the credits that this is a ‘Berger Book’ (Karen Berger: the woman who started Vertigo)! Wonder Woman is treated as a great perspective from an Outsider of Godliness, coming into an admirable but despicable world to guide and help them to a better future. Diana’s innocence and ferocity make her such a show stealer. And I can’t say enough about George Perez.

So far this reads like a Greek epic! George Perez’ art is always so stunning and PACKED with detail, but this takes it to another level for me with the realms of the Gods down to the engravings of the armor. I also did not expect his writing and dialogue to be so on point as well, I can’t find many complaints for this so far.

Every character feels so real, even the villains like Herr Starr have a sense of humility to them that is touching to read. Just the right amount of 90s culture peppered in with sex, vampires, and Arseface: Preacher is one of the best series I’ve ever read.

Really enjoyed the Saint of Killers mini-series in this. Garth Ennis does an awesome job at giving depth and characters to his villains, even if they are of few words. No Steve Dillon in this issue of short stories in the world of Preacher, but a satisfying set of origin tales nonetheless.

It’s been since reading Watchmen that I’ve found a writer/artist relationship like Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon with this series. Hard not to turn the pages as fast as I can though I love to take in the art too. Great series so far, very fun to read.

Of course the art by Lee Bermejo is astounding; these large size Black Label prints are perfect for his style of visual storytelling. I don’t really like his interpretation of Etrigan lol but it’s fun and I get it. But overall so far the writing is very clunky. And I never really knew what “clunky writing” meant until now. Bermejo saves it.

This juggling of personal dialogue and war-like action is breathing life into long-gone characters and making you care in deeply relatable ways to New Gods. Enjoying the emotional ups and downs as well as Gerad’s art which seems to fit the story perfectly. Makes me very excited for the future film project, as this book is already cinematic in its storytelling. Go Tom King!
