stunning and cold so far. heady and relentless. i’ve been reading a lot of translations lately. wondering how much of this writing i love is the work of the translator, and how much is the author herself but content with knowing it’s a mix

Only 1/2 Japanese to English translations I’ve read completely. So far it’s phenomenal. Reminds me of I Who Have Never Known Men (not Japanese).

I'm finally reading the Russian guy(s?) The writing is interesting so far. I'm enjoying Sharik's pov. Getting used to the floaty, removed kind of writing style.

I started reading this one a few years ago, but dnf-ed it because it has this dreamlike quality that reminds me of Paulo Coelho's writing style. It felt too abstract and predestined, though somehow I always gravitate to stories like this. Note to self: reread Lets Kill the Sun?

I'm enjoying it a lot more on the second try. I pushed through the parts that made me give up last time. Very queer lots of gender fuckery

idk what page i am on or how many i have completed but i finished all of the strone retelling section and let me just say wow.

This book is so intoxicating but unforch I do this thing where I binge half a book or read so much to a point (where I think the book is most exciting) that I need a long break to mentally prepare myself and I think that’s what’s happening rn

WOW. I finally read The Hunger Games because I wanted to feel something. AND I FELT MANY THINGS. I wonder what kind of person I would have been if I had read this when I was 12 years old instead of 21. I might be much more unhinged. or radical?

DNF- currently & barely on chapter 2. something about Shara's 'Gone Girl I'm leaving notes and a puzzle for you to dissect' is very Looking For Alaska manic pixie dream girl that I'm not vibing with.

had a lot of hope for this southern queer romance 🙏🏽🙏🏽 will maybe give another try later
