Mike Coleman is on page 39 of 653 of Wolf Hall (Thomas Cromwell, #1)
Last night, I was making my way through Part One, in which several characters are introduced, turned the page and found it was over. What? Did I miss something? Is this really enough to constitute a Part with an upper case P? Ah well, I will trudge on to Part Two, determined not to be the only person on the planet who doesn't think this is the greatest book ever written.

Starting a Richard Russo novel is like sliding into a hot bath. So good.

I usually steer away from fantasy/horror books, but this guy has something to say!

Staggeringly good. I don't want it to end. Lanchester cracks open an old, gentrifying neighborhood in London and, in the lives of its wildly varied inhabitants, reveals the universe. Amazing work.

So far, a marvelous book. Not at all what I expected. There is something on nearly every page that makes me laugh out loud. Lanchester has a wicked sense of humor.

I am enjoying the hilarious, self-deprecating humor of this book's first narrator.

This author sure knows how to craft a horrifying setup for a murder story. Great reading for (yet another) rainy day in Georgia.

Mike Coleman is finished with Far from the Madding Crowd / The Mayor of Casterbridge
With a tradition I started in high school, I usually read at least one thick classic in the summer, and this is my choice for 2013. So far, I'm enjoying the characters of Bathsheba Everdene and Gabriel Oak, and the description of the English countryside. There also seems to be more energy than Return of the Native, if I remember that book correctly from 11th grade.

I am enjoying the clever structure of this novel about an English-language daily based in Rome and the misfits who write for it.

I'm so glad I discovered Louise Penny and her Chief Inspector Gamache novels set in Quebec.
