This. Is an actual line. This is actually something the author wrote into the main love interest’s mouth. The cringe. Omfg. The cringe.

Omfg. So now the “best friend” who JUST learned that she has been cheated on is hoping that her hugging him agree breaking up with her boyfriend means that she’s “interested in [him] as more than just a friend” and as he recognizes she feels sad, HE feels “triumphant.” Oh, and he’s also apparently known about the cheating for a while re: locker room bragging about multiple girls.

What a shithead.

Well, at least the standards she’s expecting for her mother to stay with the cheater aren’t the standards she expects for herself???

Lmao, okay. So, the guy best friend and future love interest thinks the main character has very poor views on men (and women subsequently) because her dad was an asshat. Which, given her POV, this is quite obvious.

Can’t wait for the love interest to “teach” her to value herself. -sigh-

So…his mom left. And her mom didn’t forgive the cheating shithead. Something tells me I’m in for a book that hates women. I do not like how this is starting.

Wtf misogynistic bullshit is this???

“Sure we’d had our ups and downs like any couple. But we’d stood the test of time, unlike my parents. Sometimes I wished they’d worked harder to work through their problems. Sure, my dad cheated, but I wished my mom had found it in her heart to forgive him. But she just gave up.”

The kid’s dialogue is also really bad. 😭

She may love her dad, but I am deeply disgusted by him.

Okay, it’s a pet peeve of mine when characters go around insisting two people like each other because it is so very rarely organic and almost always feels contrived.

With that in mind, every word out of this father’s mouth was massively cringy. What dad talks like that to his daughter? In what world would his insight be realistic? Ugh.

“You want a revolution, but you don’t want to pay the cost. You don’t want to sacrifice.”

I’m so bored.

Vale and I both stood to inherit legacies we were ashamed of, consoling ourselves that we would be different.
