Goosssshhh, I needed this. I’ve had such a tough time with CL books lately, but this is fully reminding me why I’ve loved so many of their books and also just giving me the best feels I’ve been missing. This is the first time I’ve enjoyably laughed reading a book in a WHILE. Tysm. ❤️

He’s the kind of beautiful man to be admired from a distance, because there’s no way when he opens his mouth that whatever comes out can live up to the exterior.

Not gonna lie, this start is really dragging so far.

Okay, bare minimum: at least he didn't turn out to be abusive in some way. It's a low bar, but the book cleared it. Outside of that, it was just bad.

This girl is painfully dramatic. Gash in the heart? Because he doesn’t want to talk? Jfc.

Jfc, no. We’re really gonna start up with the new best friend of (what? a week?) being all omniscient about “you both obviously have feels for each other” nonsensical bullshit?

Of all the tropes, I think I hate this one the most.

…why is this man boy she barely knows being so angrily controlling? Like, I get that there’s probably going to be some stupid reveal that he somehow magically knows her better than she thinks but even that isn’t a good enough excuse for the way he’s behaving. This is starting to look like one of those books that romanticizes abuse. 🥴😬

Ma’am. You don’t know him. You’ve barely spoken and you creep stalk him out your window. There is no reason for you to be all indignant about this boy not talking to you. I can’t even.

Ngl, I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve rolled my eyes at this point.

His mind was not the kind that could imagine the shape and depth of hers.

Her friendship felt rare—not because she was a princess, but because she seemed to offer friendship in the way that a bird does; cautiously, and then all at once. It was like being befriended by an insistence.
