In my defense, I hadn’t read the first in her Neverland series before I requested this and I’m kind of just obligated at this point…but the fact that sex scenes in the first few pages seem to be theme with Nikki’s books is a big indicator that this will probably be the last of hers I ever read.

Honestly, this makes me feel a bit icky. The conflict is clearly complex, but what the Israeli government is doing at present is unquestionably wrong. And it feels really weird for the author to compare Hamas to Hitler when it was seemingly formed in direct response to Israeli murder of Palestinians—therefore exists with elements of provocation from Israel—especially when what Hitler did was purely unprovoked.

Not gonna lie, after reading this trope countless upon countless times, this is probably the first time I’ve seen a setup that’s impressively believable.

Spoilers, but…

He wore a cat suit.
And bought her a book.
And told a sad story about bullying because he wore a cat suit as a kid.
And all this drama about how she could never forgive him for lying and saying he didn’t like to read when he actually did like to read…resolved with a pretty, cat printed bow!

If the writing had been better and the characters less stupid, maybe I could forgive this…but 😬

“Listen, I know you think he’s horrible for lying to you, but I bet he has his reasons if you’d give him half a chance to explain.” I cross my arms over my chest. “Never. Why would anyone be ashamed about what they read?”

Listen, if these characters had been like…12-14, maybe I’d believe it. But about to start college??

“I can’t believe he lied to me about reading!” moaned the whiny, unrealistic, unnecessarily judgmental, doesn’t talk like a real person, supposedly 18 just graduated high school, deeply annoying main character. -_-

These POV switches are killing me.

Making a character with the last name Feeney (even if you’re spelling it slightly differently) the big bully of your novel feels like such absolute blasphemy. I just. How darrreeee.
