I just found out the main character is in a relationship with a woman who’s also in one with someone else. When asked why it wasn’t the three of them he got really uncomfortable. All of that bothers me. Not really interested anymore.

Oh, OK, I missed it, they did mention the bad guy earlier. I was too hung up on the stupid names. Ender? Really? Does anyone hear that name without thinking of the Ender of Ender's Game? And then the captain is Marx. Ugh.

I feel like I should know who these people are like it's a sequel. They are talking about the bad guy like they've known him for years.

The sexist comments are really repulsive, too. Yes, let's compare a woman's rage at a violent killing machine targeting her city with PMS.

This is a terrible mystery. There isn't enough information to even understand what's happening let alone figure it out yourself. New information comes to light after the MC has figured something out. And none of it logically flows. Again, it's all over the place. The characters are inconsistent despite the triteness of the werewolf bad boy with his leather jacket and motorcycle and the vamp with his big mansion.

Wow, nary a trite trope left unused. Graceful cold vampire? Check. Wild sex starved werewolf? Check. Tidy and messy desks respectively? Check. Grizzled old cemetery caretaker? Check. Who says "ain't" and "lady friend" and has poor eyesight? Check. The police all hate and fear the elite paranormal detectives? Check. and on it goes. Plus, they are in their own heads way too much and tell us how they feel ad nauseum.

No way would the parents of the child he killed invite him over to tell him they forgave him. A very tiny few people in that situation might actually forgive him but invite him into their home? It's human nature to need to blame someone, to second guess and think "if only" and then transfer that rage and angst and uncertainty to any target they can. It's incredibly hard anyway but when your own child is involved?

They're angry some kid goes off about cops breaking the law, but Angel has broken several already. He blasts his music so loudly, the neighbor can't be heard shouting. (Here that is a specific offense but it's disturbing the peace everywhere and just plain rude.) He urinates in public which is serious enough that in some jurisdictions is a sex crime. And he drives drunk. Then there's the bar fight...

OMG this is so fun! I've always wanted to be on a jury. The first time I was attending school in Canada so couldn't do it. The second time I just sat there for two days, then I got called, and the jury selection started, and then the guy made a deal and that was it. Bummer. Anyway, these are really easy cases but wow it's fun.

Simon refers to it as damn near rape and then he feels ashamed and angry for getting aroused and submitting. Dub. Con. I'm done. I hear that Michael finally learns that's not the approach that works with Simon, but the fact he thinks it's okay means I will never be able to root for him no matter how great a detective he is.

Let me clarify: it's not just saying no; Simin's struggling and fighting Michael. Yes Simon's conflicted but I don't believe being forced like this would help this character. Plus, it's disrespectful.

No means no. Repeated noes means dub con. I don't care how the body reacts so the person finally gives in. It's coercion and it's not okay in my book, especially when it's not supposed to be that type of story. I hate Michael.

I don't need exact details about every article of clothing he is wearing. I also feel like the author did a bunch of research and is trying to include everything she found out whether needed or not. I still can't stand Michael.

I can't stand Michael. Please tell me he gets nicer. He's brazen and slimy and rude and pushy and has no boundaries.

The book is good but this guy doesn't have Austism, he has Tourette's perhaps and maybe OCD or something I'm unfamiliar with, but he's missing half of the dianostic critieria. To be diagnosed with autism, the person has to have social disfunction--not understanding social cues and inappropriate social behavior. Even the highest functioning autistic people have difficulty communicating per the DSM-V.

Today will live as one of the great moments in history. I laud the Supreme Court for making the right decision for marriage equality. Gays and Lesbians have the right to marry says the highest court in the United States. Congratulations to everyone who will benefit from this legislation, which means everyone because none of us are equal until all of us are equal.

I'm finally picking this up again because I'm ready to deal with the sadness, but it's been so long, I can barely remember the case. I think I'm going to have to completely retread it, but I haven't really enjoyed it so I'm not going to do that now. I'm just going to skim because I really want to move on in the series.
