Wow, I’m still digesting it. Interesting plot, fleshed out characters in the story. I watch a lot of true crime. I’m struck by how similar are the attitudes that can make you a slave owner and an abusive spouse or boyfriend. Any justification that leads to dehumanizing another can lead to
“I own you, do what I say or I will destroy you. How dare you have your own opinions now I will beat on you.”

Lula keeps up her hilarious commentary throughout and Stephanie's life is complicated. A fun read.

Thank you for the gift. I'm old so I get annoyed if people overuse new jargon. I think"sheep" Have yr own mind. I would be annoyed if all the characters "clocked" details.Where as non police, military characters would simply see or notice. The same goes for"marked" Civilian characters would not mark a detail. Probaby just see it or notice. Sadly, false feeling details can pull the reader out of the story
