im... really confused by this book. on one hand, i love it - its immersive and it constantly teeters the line of binaries - life and death, passionate love and passionate hate, masculine and feminine (although these are more arbitrary than anything), joy and grief. on the other hand... i simply dont get the extremely prosaic, overly philosophical style. but i do get it - when i write i try to make it as ambiguous as

kinda losing interest - unfortunately, i am realizing that maybe bigfoot isnt one of my more favourite monsters :( i dont know i think i should still give it a go

i get the argument of how this book is extremely tell rather than 'show' but at the same time i find it hilarious how this is marketed as 'mainstream dark academia book' when most people miss the point of it - i think its pretty nice for people who want to get into a specific genre of fiction bc it raises some pretty good questions

i mean its a three/four star read for me rn. i certainly like it but do i love it - i think not. this is so random but i HATE it when peoples voices are repeatedly described as a 'growl'. like. whatthefuck is that. and i STILL have a hundred pages to go like what?? the plot is definitely interesting - i love the themes and the vibes but i dont think this is a book i'll like. love? its a fun time.

there is SO much to love in this book ??? generational trauma ??? clytemnestra's slow descent into a darkness ??? HELEN ??? i loved that one snippet were helen mentions that all she does is drink and its so. insane. all of leda's daughters also inherited the worsts of her. btw i love leda too. clytemnestra is simply such a driving force; a truly compelling character. electra as well omg
