Third person present tense is one of the worst things to ever exist. Why authors today intentionally choose this style of narration is beyond me.

That time of the year again

"The first thought that occurred to me was a Karamazov one. You know, brother, I was once bitten by a centipede, by the evil insect [...] What made her beautiful at that moment was that she was noble, while I was a scoundrel, that there she was in all the majesty of her generosity and sacrifice for her father, while I was a mere bedbug [... this thought of the centipede, gripped my heart so violently it almost bled"

"... all my life I've believed that I shall die, and that suddenly there will be nothing there, only 'burdock growing on a grave.'"

it may be that she fell in her girlhood, a prey to her surroundings, but she loved much, and even Christ forgave the woman who loved much
