Neutrinoastronomie: Blick in verborgene Welten (Astrophysik aktuell) (German Edition)
one of the most interesting reads, i guess bc it's popscience with an emphasis on the science written by someone who was there for the important discoveries and experiments from the very beginning

i have a guess where this is going but for now "brown/black men making guttural sounds and walking weirdly just sounds like period-typical racism

smh Kehlmann manages to strike the same chord as Jugend ohne Gott but we're not even halfway through the story. this won't get a bittersweet ending

Wo die Maschinen wachsen: Wie Lösungen aus dem Dschungel unser Leben verändern werden (German Edition)
reading this at the same time as Annihilation #4 was fun. "wow we found these amazing spiders with reflective eyes in the jungle at night" vs "people have started going missing in the swamp"

Waiting for Godot
this continues to be an ... interesting translation. as in, quoting german children's rhymes, referring to the Emsland....... o-kay. the afterword includes a reference to the translator being besties with Beckett. and it's from the 50s/60s so i guess it's the same as setting Brave New World in north germany. for the translation

the vibe between Estragon and Wladimir is giving cellmates who would be heartbroken if the other one got out earlier

so. turns out that the Alex Humboldt fangirl moment was necessary bc she spends the whole first half of the book explaining how and when she fell in love with which rainforest :D no srsly, the passion drips from the pages. i love this

we've entered the boring stages of the coming of age novel: loving a woman but only for a summer, and being the family disappointment

oh ok so this is slow-burn coming of age. like. i thought we'd also get to know the protagonist as an adult but i don't see any of that currently??

i just realised that Jenks is the closest to an old timey sailor out of all the crewmembers. inked with ports and memories, kinda in love with the ship, couldn't be payed to live planetside

sehr lustig, wenn "Konsum" ein normales Wort für Kaufhalle/Laden ist. nein, nicht in Leipzig 1970, nicht in Dresden 2025, sondern im. Wallis

pfffjdjfbf the implication that The Boys only started sucking and fucking bc they were bored inside their lonely alpine valley. and now that they got motorbikes they don't have to do that anymore. Tears in my eyes
