Oh my gosh; this author has yet to disappoint me.

It’s a tad slow but I am curious about how things will resolve.

I didn’t realize it was SO long. The downside of ebooks. 🤣

It’s a page turner. The only reason I’m stopping instead, my tablet is about to die. I’m reading it on Kindle. Lol

So far, so good.

I have many theories of how this novel will play out.

I expected to read information very similar to the Malcom X autobiography and I haven’t learned anything new but I think there’s more information about his inner thoughts.

I’m really enjoying this author’s writing style, very descriptive in a creative and alluring manner.

Starting to get more backstory and lessons on voodoo.

Not at all what I expected…but the black candle reference went over my head.🙃

I LOVE historical fiction especially when it’s subject is prosperous African Americans at a time in history when society tried everything to make success a near impossibility. Stories not couched in the oppression and destruction of Black folks is a much appreciated change.

I am not sure that I agree with most of the author’s conclusions

The drama is quite fantastic and is NOT painting the church leadership in a very positive light. Greenleaf vibes!

Thoroughly enjoying this one but it’s sad to learn how much of the struggle I didn’t know about.

I’m enjoying this voice. I love Lady Day’s honesty. Her story, in my opinion, is also a historical novel.
