I think this is just fan fiction smut. Not impressed, likely dnf. I always dnf long fantasy but I want to finish one atleast because people say they get really good the deeper you go

Even though I have not been able to absorb nearly any of these facts and figures about random important Europeans, it’s interesting and the art commentary is satisfying

Pretty mysogynistic but honestly not too bad so far. A woman writing like this is interesting because it’s so realistic for how shitty men can talk. The anticipation is building. I’m excited to see what happens, I’ve heard it’s gruesome.

Book club read

Boring prose but good story. I’m invested and happy to invest more. Also feels like a good snap back to reality from a lot of the black power stuff I get into. I’ll talk more abt that in my review I think

Chapter 23 is really good. I kinda wish I read the physical because she’s so poetic but her voice being the one reading kind of makes up for what I lose.

“Now (now when I’m writing) I see a single image from my twenty years at the Barracas Sporting Club, I dive into the pool and at the bottom I come face-to-face with another swimmer, we touch bottom simultaneously and see each other imperfectly through the sour green water.”
The author steps out of the story into his own memory to better describe an event in the story. Extremely avant garde and works so well

Random info on the west and literature and art from there. Focused on the time when Prussia was a big deal which was the same time that America was getting started and France was getting towards the French Revolution. Just speaking to how freedom is a growing notion around the world at that time and what is influencing that. Cool to see the fight btw church and state and how monarchs/artists influenced either sides.

Not really a fan of this. Just finishing it because I’m too deep. I’m reading the version with regular people talk side by side with Shakespeare talk, and it’s still exhausting how verbose some of the scenes are. I’m hoping the ending makes this experience worth it but we’ll see, I have serious doubts.

This is gonna take a long time. What I like is how it’s almost like a diary. He’s also constantly spitting facts. I can appreciate some of the quotes too. “Let him hide beneath iron or brass in his fear, death will pull his head out of his armour.” That’s bad ass as hell to write. And so true. N the context only makes it hit harder. I will finish it but it might be a whole year thing

It’s good. Not great. I can understand Hamlet’s motives really well, and I feel like he’s a very believable character. I am curious how this will end up, I don’t remember what I learned in highschool. Ophelia is such a lovely name. I don’t like how slow I have to read it but it’s fine. Plays are an underrated thing to read for real

I still really like it but pacing isn’t as impressive as it was before. I didn’t realize being a cowboy was so bad ass, especially when there are so much dangers all around and you pretty much live in the wilderness. This takes place around 1850 I think. It is also making me want to ride a horse. There are some things that really move you but so far what I like the most is the bad assness of cowboys.

Boring and confusing so far

He’s mainly just stating his opinion about things. He makes good points sometimes, but other times your lost because of the references. You’re not gonna stop after every sentence to look up some old Greek battle bc you want to understand what he’s saying. Solid so far tho

The pacing in this book is really good. I’m very impressed with how every sentence advances the story. Characters are all really good too even tho there’s a lot.
