Martha (little old lady library volunteer) is the villain. Her "creature" killed Clark. The narrator in Book 1 used the same voice as Martha when on the phone with Clark. Collin's ex, Paige, has shown up at his house and saw him carrying Alice home after Clark's death. Collin's losing points in his responses because he's worried what Paige will do to Alice if he rejects her outright. Plus, he's humiliated.

Collin's having nightmares about Victoria fleeing in the halls of the hotel with a man chasing her. It seems to be a psychic echo. Alice discovered Victoria is a Bancroft who was found murdered. The ring was engraved V&S. The S is probably the Proctor ancestor that was never found. They were probably both killed by her fiancé.

The mistake was thinking she was no longer a virgin and that was the reason the marriage was not annulled.

Reading again to see significant details, since I now know more from having read the other dragons' books and having finished the Tanglewood Witches series.

While working through their problems, Silas and Dianthe recovered the other 4 orbs with the pieces to find the golden grimoire.

Raven drained Ellenor's magic, then took her immortality with a feather from Charlie's wing. Avery was seriously wounded in the battles and died because she could not be magically healed. Nathaniel & Clarissa raised her from the dead with Charlie's blood. The goddess put the crowns on Gabriel's and Raven's heads.

The fairy land of Everfield was burned by Ellenor. Silas blames Aborella. Aborella's message to Dianthe never made it because they killed her familiar and then threw her into the dungeon. Avery, Raven, and Clarissa fight together against Hera's monster around the island of Aiea. Dianthe is upset with Silas because he has removed her from her position in the resistance, thinking Aborella cursed her.

Avery now has "Fairy Killer" sword that she used to kill the evil Fairy that overtook Xavier's clan and lands.

Avery's power is immunity to magic, plus she has an innate soothing nature.

This book is very engaging. I stayed up too late listening.

Ellen (queen) blamed everything on her brother, the now absent king.

Clarissa, a witch that Nathaniel tried to mate with 10 years ago lost her magic when Raven did.

Nathaniel learned how to do spells from his mother before he left Paragon. He now works with a group of witches to be able to use his magic and cast spells. He has a strong assembly of supporters. He discovered Clarissa's curse is based on dragon blood. In the circle, they discover it is not anyone from the order.

Aborella is alive and recovering. Queen is upset that the egg was left behind. Aborella took Raven's hair and braided it with 2 others, referencing the 3 sisters. First, she seemed to bind the magic, then she broke the mother/daughter links to the magic, so Raven is without her magic now in the obsidian prison.

Abarella finds them at Alexander's cave. There is a giant battle with Gabriel, Alexander, Tobias, and Raven all fighting her. Alex even tears her apart, but she still tries to pull herself back together. Raven goes to drain her magic. Instead, Raven, Gabriel, and Tobias all get caught in her trap and are sent to the Paragon dungeon.
