This book is very engaging. I stayed up too late listening.

Ellen (queen) blamed everything on her brother, the now absent king.

They both really want each other. She left because she wanted to spread her wings, and she was afraid of being "owned".

Clarissa, a witch that Nathaniel tried to mate with 10 years ago lost her magic when Raven did.

Nathaniel learned how to do spells from his mother before he left Paragon. He now works with a group of witches to be able to use his magic and cast spells. He has a strong assembly of supporters. He discovered Clarissa's curse is based on dragon blood. In the circle, they discover it is not anyone from the order.

Aborella is alive and recovering. Queen is upset that the egg was left behind. Aborella took Raven's hair and braided it with 2 others, referencing the 3 sisters. First, she seemed to bind the magic, then she broke the mother/daughter links to the magic, so Raven is without her magic now in the obsidian prison.

Abarella finds them at Alexander's cave. There is a giant battle with Gabriel, Alexander, Tobias, and Raven all fighting her. Alex even tears her apart, but she still tries to pull herself back together. Raven goes to drain her magic. Instead, Raven, Gabriel, and Tobias all get caught in her trap and are sent to the Paragon dungeon.

Raven manages to cast the spell. Miara comes to life inside the statue Alexander made. He had to help break her out of the statue. Raven goes into labor. As they are preparing to fly to Chicago to deliver the egg, Abarella arrives disguised as her father's fiancée. Raven barely gets away, dies during egg C-section, then magically comes back. Egg needs to stay in fire.

Alexander has lived 300 years with Maira's hawk and didn't realize that her spirit inhabited the bird. He knew the bird was special since it followed him and didn't die. Nix also stopped him from killing himself in the opening of the book. The magical creature that was after Maira had a glowing stone that was the source of his magic, and it was from Paragon.

Toby followed his monkey a couple of houses down to the brothel where Kit had gotten the peanuts. Kit chased Tucia as she walked back to the boarding house, then she realized Toby might be at the brothel, which he was.

She shot Huey to keep him from killing her, but she also gained the ability to look at her surgery crisis and see it from the outside. She saw the poor choices made by Dr. Adams and chose to help Huey instead of just letting him die.

Huey arrives with his offer and talks her into working for him in exchange for paying off her debt. His main rationale is that if they call in her debt, she would go to the poorhouse, and Toby would be taken away from her and likely put into an asylum.

The book begins showing Tucia freezing up, getting sucked into a nightmare, on the factory floor when another worker is seriously injured. Her world quickly spirals from bad to worse, and we readers are shown a seriously damaged woman just trying to survive. Her son is the only thing keeping her going.

The epilogue where she describes the full details of what happened in Mr. Black's room and who really killed him. Plus her fainting and recovering provide a unique twist to the entire story. It makes you want to re-read the story with these extra data points in mind.

Knight agrees to fight lord William after his treachery is proven. He's close to loosing when the lord falls off horse and breaks his own neck. Lady Analise is the heiress to the kingdom and he has already married her privately.

Woman on island is the dragon's granddaughter. Dragon is lord Magnus. Both can shape shift. Sir Kindrick saves woman from being raped then falls off cliff when dragon shows up. He catches him, then she tries to heal and bandage him. Irish dragon setting fire to towns at Lord William's bidding then sends in mercenaries to kill any villagers who remain.

He felt so ashamed of himself that he boarded the first ship leaving England and worked his way to the far east, trying to drink himself to death. Max saved him by cleaning him up and giving him a job. He sent money, but no letters, placing himself in a self-imposed isolation from his family. It took shooting Charley and then tending to her to realize that money was no substitute for family.

The story is straightforward, more of a novella. It is set between Winter Bride and Spring Bride. This is Anne Gracie's first excursion into self-publishing. Ash had a talent for numbers and supported himself in school by gambling. As an 18 yo, he got drawn in by mature men in a club who enticed him to drink then fleeced him for his home and all. His sister lost her fiance and his mother evicted.

He is shown to be the peacemaker and the one who requests civility between them. She is the one who manifests bad behaviors when in rough situations.

They gave hope for a future between Emma and Oliver in their retirement years, and also for Joanna, the granddaughter, with the guy from the weather station on Sable Island with whom she had an instant connection similiar to the original connection between Oliver and Emma.

Oliver survived mine blast, but stranded on an island for months. He came to Sable after the station was closed and was told Emma was back with her husband. Oliver's wife never told him about Emma being pregnant and all those letters that she had read.

Emma had to destress Jay. Jay freaked out about the birth of his first son and the pregnancy. They have 4 children.
Tristan has 2 girls and a son in addition to the first 3 boys. He freaked out about the birth too.

Her father lost his leg, so she stayed to care for him instead of college. Then she got pregnant & married a worker so another year with no college. It may be out of grasp now. New hubbie wants to stay on island permanently.

Oliver bonded with Emma, and now he's leaving tomorrow.

He's a fish out of water and gets his bank card stolen on his first day out when he goes home with an interested woman who doesn't shave. He tries to work as a cabbie to pay last nights fare.

I wanted to see what his story is. Trystan is bored with the shallow women throwing themselves at him. Claire got under his skin, but she shut him down every time until this trip to refresh herself and her mind. She decides to give herself a no-strings fling with a gorgeous man.

This relationship is ALL about sex. They had instant chemistry on the plane flight and afterwards, plus they could talk and enjoy each other's company. Emily wanted "Jim" not the boss. He gets demanding whenever she is around and can't help but try to control her actions. They keep getting together, then have a big blow-up over these control issues. They both seem to overreact.

She's accepted the mate claim and they are traveling with the carnival. Dillon wants what she knows about the dead brother's plans. So does shifter bureau.
