The captive finished with so much drama excited to see what’s next. Gunna pause and read something short then back to the fugitive 🙂 or maybe just read the fugitive immediately. Hehe.

When half way is 450 pages 🤣🥲

I really enjoyed the opening portion, soending time with Marcel and Albertine in their…not great…relationship in Paris. I am not bummed that there has finally been some movement Charlus and Morel, looking forward to what is to come. I enjoy these novels a lot when relationships are in transition.

Getting through this one quicker than I expected, feels like things are really hitting their stride. Also only taking notes/marking passages between readings instead of during. Much better for the flow

Almost there!! Place Names - The Place started slow, probably my least favorite section at the beginning as Proust maps out a new location, just wasn’t as engaging as how he mapped out Combray. Has gotten really good as it has progressed though, digging it now. I think I will start volume 3 once I finish this.

Memory, ignited by the sense carries one through a series of vignettes, feeling the driving force. But what is the feeling, a fleeting reality? A point in a narrative - constantly flowing & being interpreted that is our understanding of ourself? To understand a person, must you meet them in the now? Or hear tale of the stories that internally define their understanding of themselves?

Doing it forreal this time (last time I was half way done and had to throw my copy in the trash in order to hit the weight limit to board a flight home from France) (lets hope that doesnt happen again)
