You don't realise how much money is sent into a void until you calculate just how much is gone. We all are victims to it, but even just that chapter can help even the lazy!

Seriously, how the heck is this story going to end? Riven has to kill Jude but obviously doesn’t want to.

I think Sil is not as powerful as he claims. If Riven can convince everyone to go off script with the limited time they have to do so, they can take him out.

Oh, I’m still confused when I read certain scenes. Might be a skill issue.

I’m not letting my confusion ruin this book. The more I read the more I understand, the more it revealed the better for me.

For obvious reasons, talking like they’re in a play, they got characters, they’re not “real” is jarring. That’s when I get hella confused but you get into a rhythm.

It’s seriously sad though. “If not in this one, then in the next.” MY HEART HURTS STOP THIS NONSENSE!

Im so confused sometimes than I’m not.

If everything is already written, can Riven really change anything. My head hurts to think about this. Idk if it’s my fault or the books fault.

I'm so very confused but also not confused. Everything is coming out, Riven is realising a LOT of things and I feel like I just need a moment to think before I keep reading.

Wish me luck.

So, if you read your future on paper and ask someone to fix the mistakes you’ve read that you’re going to make…wouldn’t they just still happen…

Also, Jude, why have you been around Riven for so long? Very weird but also, are you like a guardian…player? Doubt it but this is very fun to guess.

Well…Vixen just confessed het real name, killed a government official (In the best way I could ever imagine) , realised how much of an ass Jude is, lowkey is a full blown Player and might have this dope power that controls marked ones….

All on the span of like 30 pages as well…

There’s a lot happening. Galen in the Playhouse, Jude essentially dying (but that’s my opinion) Alistaire having internal conflicts of who’s good and bad.

Kinda overwhelmed but probably not as much as Sil right now.

Jude and Alistaire having a cliche moment in a small inn will always be one of my favourite tropes! I’m also grateful for how short it was, not too much cause lowkey there are still secrets that could ruin everything…

Jude yelling at Alistaire how she didn’t defend herself and she should be mad at the north was honestly heartbreaking. I loved that whole argument so much, good hits on both ends!

Alistaire is seeing the good in Jude…uh oh. Nah it’s a good thing right! He’s not even a bad guy… he’s just misunderstood… I’ll say whatever if it gets me in a room with him ehehehe.

We all agree the North is most likely the bad guys here. Or is Jude lying? See…I don’t know. There’s a lot of theories to go around and so far in guessing that Gene Hunt is maybe a puppet for the North???

Woah SO MUCH just go revealed I’m honestly speechless. Jude, you sneaky bugger you.

Just reached an intermission and that’s spectacular. Shannon J Spann, you got a fun way of dividing this novel.

My only issue was that I felt confused and frankly stupid towards this intermission, however, that last page got the ball rolling again. Love the pacing and planning.

I suspect, something between Gene Hunt and Jude caused Jude to be cursed or something of the sort. Because him and Sil were clearly arguing about losing time… suspicious behaviour.

Riven mimicking Jude was fun, but also, I hate it. That scene was so beautiful, Riven really knows how to boost Jude’s ego by TOUCHING him. Can’t lie, I’d do the same and say it’s for my “plan”.

It may be that I haven’t read a good fantasy book in a while but reading the first play that Alistaire was in, really confused me. Sometimes I feel like I have a grasp of how everything works but then something unbelievable happens, or some characters say something that confuses me further.

I think I need to lock in a little more. Jude, you have feelings and that’s a good thing. Maybe. Probably.

I suspect they kill the contenders because no mortal can learn the Player secrets of Reality Suspension, mimicry etc. That’s why they can’t just leave. Cause, why wouldn’t Sil use their death for the audience to watch? Why is it in private?

Anyways, Jude said, in a close up, low, sensual voice “Lie to me,” and that did it for me. He’s so pretty.

Riven…your stubbornness will be the death of you. Oh, it quite literally was. You just didn’t want Jude to kill you so you opted for a fun little dance with another player. Not gonna lie…I do kinda respect that.

Jude and Riven are both enemies right now but they seriously need one another. Jude has larger things to uncover, with the help of Riven. And Riven needs her life and revenge. I’m so invested!

Jude helping “Alistaire” with her essentially fallen off ribs is a favourite trope of mine. So romantic even though he’s just helping her for himself.

Let me be delusional. It’s all I have.

YES RIVEN YOURE A BADDIE! Having Players insult and torment you to your face and you still hit em with the perfect “Fuck off” at the luckiest time as well.

However, that arrow saved your life girl. I believe you would have died in that moment, or at least come VERY close to.

Stay being the best badass character, and let Jude help. He’s just a hottie with golden smokey eyes, what can go wrong…?

Riven, I appreciate you. So far, you’ve proven yourself to be a strong (albeit physically weak) character, you’re persistent and motivated.

PLEASE DONT PISS ME OFF!

Jude is fun. I like him. I can imagine how he looks and he’s a killer for sure. Breaking hearts left and right with his charisma.

“I will not die without having tried everything.”
I LOOOOOVE when characters have this motivation! For a character like Riven as well, it’s perfect.

It’s the type of character attitude that makes you keep reading, otherwise I’d be screaming at her to start LIVING.

I’m actually very excited so far about this plotline, the world and how glamorous the Playhouse is.

I definitely see Catherine in little Cathy. It’s also really annoys me. Seriously, there’s not a single character I root for in this whole novel.

Cathy and Linton… you poor fools. Repeating history but the choices you made are all part of Heathcliffs plan.

I don’t feel bad for anyone. Not even Nelly, cause how can you tell a 16 year of girl, you can’t see the boy you like… recipe for disaster.

I hate every character.

However, I still would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the Gothic. There’s a lot of things happening now, with the death of Catherine, twelve years later and Heathcliff is still depressed, now taking it out on his son…

Excited to see everyone hate everyone.

Catherine and Heathcliff are a couple people should never strive to be like.

However, when they speak of their love for each other, I can’t lie, it is very romantic. Unable to live without each other, their souls are one, with you gone I’ll follow type of love.

Common thoughts and emotions while reading:
Catherine you’re so annoying.
Heathcliff you’re insane.
You both have a weird way of expressing your feelings.
Poor Nelly, dealing with all this nonsense.
Kinda romantic but also, kinda horrible.
I’m loving this rollercoaster though.

My gosh what is this? I can't tell if it's the late 18th century that's throwing me off or if Catherine's character is just psycho...?

I am seriously enjoying the book, even though some of these characters have me pulling my hair out. Next time I'm asked a tough question I will also bang my head on an arm chair until my lip bleeds. Sensible. Demure.

Damnnn she’s dying. I mean that much was obvious but she’s got like a month tops and her hair is falling out. The cure is becoming a Player. My prediction.

There’s so much I want to know. Who was the Player who cursed her? What does Riven actually look like? Who was her father? What’s the deal with her brother? I’m heavily invested in this book, got lots of questions.

Catherine sucks. Heathcliff is tragic. Nelly is taking the blunt of Catherine's abuse. Heathcliff showed Catherine he CARED but she is clearly blinded by well, money.

I'm enjoying this stupid book. Emily Brontë, you write very well. There's a steady and well divided pace, nothing is too complex for little old me to understand. I love your work so far.

At eight years old Riven can stab someone who is essentially a god and live to tell the tale (with some stats reduced though)?

I’m impressed by her character and really am eager to see how she either gets rid of her curse or manages to control it…

Started this for University since I’m in a Romance and Realism unit.

I kinda hated on this book but I’m only 4 chapters in and…it’s seriously not that bad…I failed to recognise this is a gothic romance so in theory it’s something I’d enjoy.

Maybe it’s too soon to say anything but so far, we’re enjoying it.
