The saddest scene between Alizeh and Cyrus happens right before the funniest scene with the whole gang confused why Cyrus isn’t in the King Wing of the castle.

I felt a range of emotions and I’m getting back into the groove of this series. Hoping for the rest of the book to be this way!

Hazan is going to be the first person to defend Cyrus when we realise he’s misunderstood. Probably before Alizeh as well.

“I should like to wear black…to my own funeral. Yes.” Damn Cyrus, this wedding is putting things into perspective. The end is near. You cannot love Alizeh.

I’m going into this book with a new mind. Perhaps I judged the last two a little too harshly…

We’re five chapters in and Deen is given no character besides his profession.

I’m trying to keep positive…

Genuinely what even is this book? Marry Cyrus? Okay. Marry Kamran? Eh, no. Maybe later. Been awake for only three hours and forcing this blood oath to happen now? Sure, even though I don’t know what it is.

I hate Alizeh. I hate Kamran, WITH A PASSION. Poor Cyrus just wants to die, but not as much as he wants Alizeh. He’s in limerence, he only knows his dream version of her, let’s be honest.

Alizeh wakes up from her four week slumber and decides to face a mob of people, head on, no plan and fully knowing some of them want her dead. Then she’s attacked and she didn’t even talk to the crowd of people.

I don’t know how I can defend a character like this. You JUST woke up, talk to Hazan first! Talk to Cyrus before you do what you did.

I complained that this book did not have any breaks and we finally got one. Alizeh was asleep for 4 weeks?

During this time everyone had assimilated into Tulan and the politics are looking good for both kingdoms. We’ve got Zahhak in Ardunia to deal with.

This simple time skip really helped me get back into it! I still don’t know how this book is going to wrap up this story though. Hopefully not predictable.

Cyrus may be exhausted but no one is as drained as me trying to get through this book. All I’m doing is complaining but I seriously can’t imagine this book getting any better.

Not even Omid or Miss Huda can save this book now. I think I hate everyone.

For the love of everything, LET THERE BE ONE NIGHT OF REST TO RESET EVERYTHING. There’s no break or pause!! I’m so tired.

These chapters are 90% recap and 9% random stuff. Oh, and that 1%? That’s the plot somehow moving through it.

I really wish I cared about anyone of these characters. Miss Huda and Omid are the only two I like being on the page. They feel like siblings who speak their mind and give me a sense of energy in this very bland book.

I’m … not enjoying anything right now.

Something about this storytelling is making me a little frustrated. Why does everything happen in a few seconds??? Kamran reaches Tulan while Alizeh is unconscious… all of a sudden Hazan is waking her up.

Still haven’t gotten a moment of what Tulan is like so I don’t care about it. Miss Huda, Deen and Omid are just filler, comic relief, characters. Kinda boring.

Woah massive plot twist, Cyrus’ father is alive. Not only that, but Cyrus took this deal with the devil FROM his father. Cyrus and Kamran are kinda the same in this sense, inheriting things from their family.

Alizeh is freezing Anna style? Also, I suspect the same devil is working against both Cyrus and Alizeh. Or that was obvious and I didn’t catch on. Anyways, can Kamran get to Tulan already!

Oh gosh I hate the way Kamran thinks. Is it because I feel for Miss Huda? Yeah. He’s comparing her and Alizeh because these are the only two women he’s acknowledged.

We got THREE perspectives for this book, yay! I’m enjoying it so far, not really sure how it’s going to go. I’m scared it will be similar to the second book.

I’m already loving this book because of this first chapter. Learning about Cyrus from that single chapter gave me more than the first book ever could!

Actually, now that I think about it. If Cyrus physically cannot tell us and Alizeh his history or the T&C of his deal. Why did we waste so much time on it??? Anyways, that was the last book. We’re focusing on the positives of this one!

I’m not particularly excited because of the second book but the blurb looks promising.

This book has my favourite cover so that’s all I’m excited about so far… and Cyrus. I’m a woman after all.

I don’t know how I feel about Kamran. On one hand, he apparently looks hideous, nothing is ever going his way and now he’s going to be “tested” by the Diviners. But he also hasn’t given me any reason to really root for him…

Alizeh is better than me, because if Cyrus was under the influence of dark magic I’d be using him to my advantage. By killing him…obviously.

Every chapter with Kamran is just the onset of a headache. Even when he tries to have a normal dinner he’s got every character from the first book coming in to ruin his night.

So Cyrus has siblings and I’m beginning to think they’re involved in some type of deal. Alizeh needs to strop out of her own life and HELP HIM DAMN IT! He’s out here crying in flower fields because of Iblees!

Only read one chapter because I’m ready to SLEEP! This chapter was where that famous fanart takes place, in the market where she pretty much eats bread for the first time.

So we learn that the Tulan people like Cyrus…our misunderstood king? I need to stop looking at fanart because it’s already giving me reasons to defend Cyrus. Gosh, he’s so pretty.

CYRUS WHY ARE YOU TALKING DOWN YOUR LIFE AND SOUL! He’s so ready to just give up his life to get the devil off his back and die. Whyyy! OH MY GOD, MY SHAYLA.

It’s been over 200 pages and I’m pretty sure it’s only been two or three days…. There’s not enough time, how am I nearing the climax?

Kamran on his way to Tulan is going to be interesting! I can already see how it’s going to go.

I hated the chapters with Kamran cause I was bored but I’m loving them now. So many funny moments with him and Hazan.

Everything Cyrus says makes me blush. I know he’s still a bad guy right now but I kinda spoilt myself by looking at fanart…. Anyways, Cyrus can give Alizeh a dragon so, that’s a good trade for her hand in marriage.

Am I incredibly bored reading Kamrans Chapters? Yes. Am I powering through just to hopefully get a moment with Cyrus in the next? Yes.

Cyrus and Dragons are my new favourite thing. How does he just have them all doing what he wants? I’m excited to learn more about how magic in this world works.

I should have guessed that Kamran wasn’t going to be the MMC. This isn’t the first Tahereh Mafi book I’ve read.

I’m enjoying the times with Cyrus right now…hopefully I don’t regret saying that.

I have PLENTY of predictions right now, I’m hoping they’re all wrong cause I don’t like guessing the plot.

Never liked King Zaal anyway, he just seemed like a child eating man….

We are ROLLING into this climax. So much as happened, to Alizehs road to getting ready for this ball, Kamran dealing with the pressure of everything around him, and now one of my new favourite characters being around. Huda. She seems like the comic relief character and I’m all here for it.

I’m so close to the end of the book and they’re not even at the ball yet. What can happen? I don’t know.

Holy hell this was a WILD 5 chapters! So much beautifully written moments between Alizeh and Kamran.

“I think I might fetch you the moon if only to spare your tears again.” AWWWW KAMRAN YOU SMITTEN LITTLE PRINCE ILL KISS YOU RIGHT NOW!

I love how they both call each other “strange.” Makes me laugh at how they’re both similar in their attitudes towards one another.

Okay damn Alizeh you’re one heck of a badass! She beat up those five guys and easily insulted the last one like the queen she is! I thought I was going to get a whole training arc for her to get back into being a baddie but I was wrong, rightfully so.

Someone needs to help Kamran, how is Alizeh doing better in life than a damn prince right now.

Okay so the climax, I’m guessing, is this ball that they’ll all be attending. I am actually surprised how important Omid is in this story. Was expecting him to just be someone who brings the two main characters together somehow.

I feel like the pace is very slow though, I’m struggling to keep the motivation to read.

“Tomorrow night, you will choose a wife.”
Kamran looked up in an instant, his eyes wild.

Oh we know exactly what he’s thinking! He feels guilty for noticing her and wants to make amends by obviously marrying her. She is technically royalty so…two birds one stone type of situation.

I’m getting interested now! Alizeh has so much potential!!! I’m excited to see her be a badass.

Kamran and Alizeh are two character who have a lot of potential. Since it’s the early stages of the book there’s obvious traits about them and where their story is heading.

Am I dying to read the next chapter? Not really but it’s getting there?

Been on my shelf for a few months now, excited to get into this series! Even though I have no clue what’s happening or what the plot is, Kamran and Alizeh seem like some interesting characters.

When Alizeh felt her bed dip and creak as if someone was sitting behind her, I got very uncomfortable. The haunting riddle as well. Didn’t know this was a horror book!

What a crazy ending. There’s so much about all the characters I need to talk about for the final review!

Finally, Karras asked to perform an exorcism! I liked how we finally got to this point. Karras’ weakness is believing he’s strong enough to take on an exoticism.

“Yeah, hello and good-bye.” Karras growled. “Who are you and what the fuck are you doing in my room?” Should have known it was a dream cause why is he swearing. I loved it though, really shows his character.

Karras still doubts Regan is possessed. Even with some of the unexplainable things like the drawer flying open, her knowing his mother passes and surely the physical evidence.

Really appreciate the writing style of having his (Karras) internal thoughts, past scenes/conversations and him teaching his class all in one. Easier to read than just one long paragraph about one scene.
