She promised ALPHA she’d return and hasn’t even thought of him again. 😡

I don’t think I’ve laughed this hard in ages. If you haven’t read this series, you really, really have to, just for this page.

Someone killed her grandma, burned down the entire area including her home, shot her dog, sent her threatening texts, shot at her, and killed her lawyer.
OK, so she suggests that he go to the hotel and she’ll go pick up dinner, and he says why not. Let’s see... No, can’t think of any reason they shouldn’t separate. 👀

I can’t be the only reader wanting to yank out her own hair here! This woman says a dog shot across the road and that she’s hit something. He’s anxious to find a dog, but they’re yammering on and on and ON about event planning vs. wedding planning. Who gives a ...?

I’m getting frustrated with some of the logic in this book. Our heroine’s dog finds a body, and then a young girl who runs off.Heroine calls police, who tell her never mind the girl, stay w the body. After cops arrive she mentions the girl and the cop changes the subject. This is a child, probably a witness to murder, alone in the woods, and somehow this is not a priority for the police. Really? Come on!

OK, OK already! Both characters have reflected MANY TIMES already on how they shouldn’t let their attraction go anywhere. We get it. This obsessive thinking by characters in “romantic” novels can be a bit much. On with the action!

Oh, and NOW she has to enlighten her partner, who also didn’t realize the dead guy couldn’t have committed another crime after he died. What am I missing?

I’m getting a little frustrated with the heroine figuring out things that should be obvious. Like here, she suddenly realizes the DEAD guy couldn’t have been behind a second crime because... wait for it... he was DEAD. Earlier she finds a pill bottle, not in the usual places but rolled up in the guy’s socks. It takes her awhile to realize he was hiding it.

Ever try to take off a shirt while wearing handcuffs? Ever try to put a new shirt on? It's a neat trick if you can do it. Strange this got past editors.

"Had it only been a week ago she’d been standing on a dock in Turbo, Colombia, a disreputable port town rife with violence on the coast of Colombia and in the horseshoe of the Gulf of Urabá to fulfill her mom’s wish." I sure hope there are no more sentences like THIS.

This is the military, not junior high. The regulations against officers fraternizing with enlisted are not just about romance. Officers are not supposed to be buddies with enlisted either. These regs exist for a lot of excellent reasons, and the characters' treating them like annoying trivialities that interfere with their fun doesn't work.

This guy ripped the heroine's child out of her arms and left him in a war-torn country, in danger. I can accept that she might agree to tutor HIS son for the money she needs to go get her own. I can't accept that she would turn into a pool of mush when he goes cave man and grabs and kisses her. Gross.

I've enjoyed Stoker's books enough to overlook a LOT of technical details that don't seem right, but here they are HUGE. Dakota is the only witness who can identify this terrorist. You'd think they'd have her sit down with a sketch artist or go thru airport security vids, right? But you'd be wrong. And the heroes keep saying it will be hard to identify him. #Duh and at this point in the book, also #argh!

Ok, well, shir. As a layman I know better. There is no privacy or privilege when the Attorney is a prosecutor and the defendant is not her client. This is bugging me.

Having a bit of trouble with heroine's rationale for doing the wrong thing. She'd know better as a prosecutor, even junior level.

Oh, and why is it necessary to nurse her back to health before sending her off to be tortured and killed???

Instead of dedicating pages to Hancock's ruminations about having "no choice" but to betray this admirable, innocent, trusting (TSTL) woman, I would actually LOVE it if the author would EXPLAIN why there is no choice. What exactly is the plan here, and why is it necessary for her to be given to the terrorists?

Damn! I was trying to just read the reviews before deciding whether I want to continue the series. Hancock seems like a great character, so I was tempted despite the fact that I really didn't care for the last two books. Unfortunately when I tried to click the link to reviews, I missed and hit "buy with 1 click." Grr.

And now he calls her a cow. Just like the hero in an earlier book. (These heroes also say "thank f*ck" a lot, like f*ck is a person who does things deserving of thanks). These people all have the same voice.

I'm actually approaching DNF territory with this one. Damn near halfway thru and it's all basically Swanny obsessing over his scars and whether Eden could really be attracted to him. VERY little action, even during the ONE scene where something happened.

"Because for him, sex just wasn’t casual unless he determined that going in and just wanted or needed a night to blow off some steam and have a one-night stand." So sex wasn't casual for him...unless it was? 🤔

That's twice--in a few hours--that the heroine's family coerced her to take sleeping pills. Even OTC sleep aids work for several hours, so that's way too much. Why is she going along? Also, there's a fine line between uber protective alpha male and knuckle dragging cave man.
