I’m glad he has laurentia and I’m Actually impressed that he trusts her enough to let her fuss over him and hug him. Its probably good for his speech development to speak with her too. And she obviously cares a lot about him, even using her own money to buy him that coat (which probably saved his life during the winter months too)

He really thinks and acts like a dog, its unsettling. It’s all he knows, but still disheartening to read about him chasing kids with the dogs and killing cats and stealing anything he can get away with. Chasing and scaring other people just for the thrill of it. Bcs if they’re scared of you it means that you don’t have to be scared of them. The begging might be good for him though, more human interaction

That’s so sad, he’s looking for connection with humans even though he doesn’t know Why and doesn’t trust them. It’s human nature to try and understand other humans and be one with the group. He had a connection with that singing woman but she’s probably dead or relocated. He still remembers how to speak at least basic phrases though thankfully.

It was interesting tho to see how Romochka navigated the loss of someone he considered a brother. He mourned as a human first but in the end he had to let that go and adapt to his environment. To do as the dogs in the pack and stop seeing the corpse as Brown brother and only as food. But yeah it’s rough.

I’m sad that Brown brother died although I was pretty sure that one of the puppies would. I wonder if next years puppies Will survive or not. Mamochka killed the ones she had this year bcs the winter was so cold, which was the right decision consedering the wolves that stalker them all winter. Or I’m assuming since it’s never outright stated. It is surprising tho that Romochka doesn’t seem to know abt wolves

This book is deeply disturbing in a lot of ways

Maybe Mamochka had black dog and golden bitch while living with humans who abused them?
That would explain why they view him differently from the other puppies. Although Golden seems more like she’s wary of him but wants his approval while Black dog sees him as a playmate or an equal mostly

”Other puppies” the writing is very good at conveying how Romochka starts to see himself as though he’s a dog, not a boy. But at the same time the author highlights the differences and how they impact him, how the dogs vore him differently from themselves but still include him.

Read 10 Chapters now. The book is very Fun I Will say, kinda funny that I have more appreciation for it now than I did in högstadiet.
It’s very typical older YA with slutshaming and a lot of romanticization of behavior (especially from the guys) that really shouldn’t be. Cue Mason’s little ‘nice guy’ moment just now bcs he was jealous. Dimitri really hasn’t done much imo

I Wonder What the incident was that made them leave the academy in the first place. Bcs it really seems like they both think the Academy isn’t a safe place for Lissa, even though it’s very well guarded. And I wonder about this Christian guy. I have read this book before and he kinda seems familiar but I don’t remember fully.
I think he has potential with Lissa tho

I think this is new for this version but Helena inventing the manacles that later chain her is some damn cruel irony

These few chapters where they’re together and there’s no walls between them anymore and they can allow themselves to feel are genuinely some of the most heartbreaking in the story. Bcs I know everything that happens after. It’s like one little speck of light in a pitch dark ocean. It’s only getting worse from here

Damn so haven’t picked this book up in months and now that I finally did it’s rewarding me? Kain tells her clearly that he cares about her, they kiss, he tells her to use the ring to contact him whenever she wants ( mind you at the beginning of the arrangement he basically said he’d kill her if she burned him with the ring)
Very glad to be back to this story, pls give me a little more fluff before it all burns

I genuinely don’t think that reveal was necessary but I think Sylvia wanted to be true to herself after all these years, it’s what the book has been building toward, finally facing the past and people she’s been running from.
Sad that Her and Arin are probably back to square one now tho, they were so good togetherrrr

It is so satisfying to read his fear that something would happen to her after this whole book of them hating each other’s guts.
And when he said she didn’t have to do the third trial and could just run away and he wouldn’t chase her? Immaculate.

I really like the book tho sometimes it’s like the author completely forgets where they are. Like rn Sylvia got on Arins horse, which was apparently standing around quietly after an EARTHQUAKE. He’s half unconscious, yet they’re TROTTING& having a full conversation. Is she sitting in the saddle or behind it? No mention of slowing down or getting off the horse but she’s falling asleep and taking steps??

Whoa ok a lot happened. Soraya (her childhood maid) appeared and stabbed her. Then they went on to have a full conversation while she still had the knife in her chest. And how reliable is Sylvia’s narration really? Apparently she broke Mervat’s arm as a child for not playing with her and felt no guilt? That’s fucked. But Soraya still said she was so cute and affectionate? I am confused. But Arin defo likes her

That’s funny that he was clearly caught off-guard when he heard her voice. He probably thought it was one of the guards who entered.
And second!! Molokhia mentioned!!!!!! That made me so happy, I’ve actually recognized quite a few of the dishes mentioned throughout the book. I think it’s a nice detail to include actual middle eastern food with their arabic names

Did he get one written by his future self too? I’m assuming he didn’t get the same as Naho. For how long? Did the others get letters too? Is this why he’s rooting for Naho with Kakeru even though he likes her too?

På kapitel 6. Jag gillade delen där de prata om tidsresande och parallelvärldar i skolan. Och så gulligt när Naho bad Kakeru att kolla på fyrverkerierna med henne. Kul att hon börjar bli lite modigare. Hennes vänner verkar shippa det, Suwa med, vilket är intressant eftersom han och Naho verkar vara gifta med barn i framtiden.

I wasn’t sure at first but it’s definitely growing on me. There is more ro it than just what’s on the surface

She’s 20? Nice. Though from my first impression it reads younger

So Martha didn’t know Zhen was on the island. And Zhen knew the world hadn’t ended bcs Albert made her go there to destroy the communications. That part makes more sense now at least. And I appreciate the 100 years into the future look. I don’t quite understand the last page tho. Is it setting up for a sequel or just saying that peace never lasts? And what is the message from Marius about?
