The mother and her elderly clients are straight out of the 1980s but the author doesn't seem to realize it, so again I'm wondering if I'm reading am old manuscript or something by someone my age who doesn't realize that we are the parent generation and therefore what was old to us is now extremely old. I'm also curious why this small town diner doesn't have any long term employees that would know the main character.

I actually blazed through this within a few hours of purchasing and then had a lively discussion with friends who were also reading it about the juxtaposition of the poop transplant chapter and the food recipes. Very unappetizing. Very joke worthy. Nothing was new for me here, but it was nice to have the information assembled in one book.

Very pleased I found this book on Korean dramas. I've picked up quite a bit from my ESL students and from watching k-dramas when it comes to the language terms (e.g. oppa vs ajusshi), but I never would have known all the fascinating behind the scenes tidbits about the Korean t.v. serial industry. Great read so far!

I've been on a noodle research kick for awhile. Pretty much exhausted the film media I had access to and started on book. After watching Mind of a Chef, David Chang seemed like a good place to start. There are recipes, but I'm more interested in the prose. My chef character is definitely going to love noodles. Yum.

Maya is 60% done with There's Something About Lady Mary (Summersby, #2)
Because the heroine did not grow up a lady, the author is able to have other characters explain social and inheritance rules that only a history buff would know. That makes this a good entry book for people new to Regency romances.

Wonderful Regency voice. It's making me think Jane Austen reincarnated as a 1980s Valley Girl. The hero is not a match for Nicolas Cage, unfortunately.

Teen emotions! Wow. The author captures the over-the-top, out-of-control feelings of teens spot on, I am hugely relived to be an adult. This trilogy might cure me of reading YA - that's a compliment. Needed some editing help with the backstory/summation of book 1 in the first few chapters for consistency and a bit of grammar, but once you read past that it starts to flow.

Finally getting interesting! I've only kept reading because I'm stubborn. It's bee. a retelling of teen angst - very mundane, swim meet, classes, formal dance, workouts. Even the mer land has been boring. Then at the 59% mark, Ashlyn got hurt and Fin saved her. And now both are drowning in their cover ups and lies. At last, so meat to this story!

Intriguing YA about Merrill in Lake Tahoe. The story has grabbed me but the chapters for Fin the young merman are awkward and do not sound male or stick to his poverty even though it's written in first person. Ashlyn the human girl's chapters are much smoother.

Started off strong with an interesting setting - 1907 NYC theatre district - but now it has bogged down in a series of descriptions of failing vaudeville acts. I get that the theatre is in trouble, so could we please pick up the pace!

I am cautious when picking "whole village" type books because there's usually a story or two that doesn't engage me. Not so in Harmony, TX. I'm equally interested in the doc and her horse taming neighbor as I am in the funeral home crew, the young orchard owner's love triangle and the just out of high school stuttering musician trying to find himself. What a fantastic ensemble cast!

Slow to start because the book description poses the question of identity switching and the Titanic then takes 25% of the book to get them onboard. Also, I was expecting a romance and there has only been a tiny scene of the love interest prepping to get to the Titanic, so nobody has been on stage together yet.

An 1830 murder mystery is not my usual fare. I'm glad I picked it up because it is full of one liners that make me chuckle aloud.

Short, intense romance between Caite the girl next door and her crush, an older ( but not too old) ranch neighbor. The age negotiations are realistic, although Chad, the hero was a bit too coarse for me.

Abandoning ship. It isn't as engaging as other things that I am reading and since it comes from the library, it has to go back, unread.

Funny. British. Class conscious in a way only the Brits can be. I don't know the point of the book yet, but the characters are so intriguing - even just their names (Aldous Swinghammer, Ebeneezer Chipping, Fermina Marquez, Dante Andolini, Mischa (a woman) and Helmut) - how could I resist?
