Finally getting interesting! I've only kept reading because I'm stubborn. It's bee. a retelling of teen angst - very mundane, swim meet, classes, formal dance, workouts. Even the mer land has been boring. Then at the 59% mark, Ashlyn got hurt and Fin saved her. And now both are drowning in their cover ups and lies. At last, so meat to this story!

Intriguing YA about Merrill in Lake Tahoe. The story has grabbed me but the chapters for Fin the young merman are awkward and do not sound male or stick to his poverty even though it's written in first person. Ashlyn the human girl's chapters are much smoother.
