a bit strange to see the words situationship, baby mama and baby daddy used in 2005 but hell what do i know. there's many more but these are just the most recent 2020 words that have come up on one page

the book i have also includes american spelling like "apologize" randomly. at times the book uses normal british spelling, "apologise" "practise" and then it'll include anericanised words as well... im seriously starting to wonder if the editor really read this book or if they just scammed the author?

it's very unrealistic for someone who has experienced domestic violence by the hands of a parent for her entire childhood to let any hint of that slip. typically children who are victims of dv are adept at lying and covering up for the abuser, shannon wouldnt say "because i'm not allowed to go anywhere", because she would be used to lying about her father/parents.it diminishes how deep these things are ingrained

okay it's bad enough that she's tiny, and much younger but her also acting so immature, childish and naive is kinda putting me off. she doesn't understand sarcasm? isn't that a milestone for 6 year olds?

missing commas, too many commas in random places? what's going on here? seriously did no one proofread it? not even the mircrosoft word software?

why is shannon vs johnny's height constantly emphasised. reminds me so much of the raven boys and blue and gansey, i keep calling them that in my head cause the dynamic is so so similar. gansey/ johnny are exactly the same archetype. the series even have a similar name lol. that's tiktok books for you, repurposing the same 5 tropes

huh how is shannon only just 15? it's stated she has been held back in primary school due to severe bullying and anxiety. This should make her older than her classmates Lizzie and Claire. but here it's said she's 15 and has almost another year before turning 16 - so she's effectively in the same age group as them, which contradicts her having been held back... this also makes the relationship w johnny weirder?

i dont even want to read the next book that'll come out. diana is a weakling. might as well have taken away all her magic for it doesn't make a difference. the most powerful weaver cannot spell-bind satu. her weaver's knots are weaker than satu's now. the most powerful witch who started a new age for all creatures is weaker than her 6 year old daughter at higher magic. she doesn't use magic in her life anymore.

okay so diana says she wants to get the test over with, also hhat it's important for the kids to embrace their witch side- darkness and all. but she interferes cobstantly throughout pip's test, making little comments to stump his confidence and enthusiam. satu asks him to demonstrate all elements and diana goes 'no no no!' 'is that really necessary?' yes diana it is!! this is a magical aptitude test you stupid woman

matthew's disgust and hatted towards higher magic is so out-of-character. also he says this and then half a page later it's 'alright mom coeur'. he's got no backbone nor a personality

why would diana risk all her fanily's memory bottles to get back at meg?!? why is she behaving like a petulant child in this book

the french and italian is so clumsy too, not as bad as the german in the second book but god did she just put all those phrases through google translate? did she just type in each word and piece them together?

ysabeau reads like a bad fanfiction version of herself. why is she being so cryptic? why is she back to being horrible and insensitive about hunting and burning witches at the stake? genuinely who are these characters?

it's painful that the two scottish characters are both drunks. very clearly written by an american. i dont even know if she's american but i'm sure of it

okay i take it all back!!! why would diana be so stupid and reckless in the labyrinth. she was told it's the last test of higher magic- only for advanced witches, she was told it would be between her fears and desire. it all starts with ... but oh no she asks and asks and asks to get things from it like a child in a sweets shop

i admit the memory bottle thing seems random and it seems that the plot for diana to know higher magic is kinda being abandoned but i dont rly mind a lot. it's kinda speeding up the book, but i like the cosy chapters too; the coven, the garden, the tea - daily life. that's what i always wish for, for books to include the happy end

come to tgink of it, if both her children are to be tested earlier because of higher magic being strong in both diana's parents, why was she not tested or introduced after it became clear that she's powerful and a weaver? stupid stupid stupid book

they are meant to be all about manners and propriety but i havent seen a single please or thank you uttered by any of the characters. maybe there's a few thank yous but definitely no pleases

why is matthew so against the children learning to deal with their magic? genuinely who tf are these characters? who wrote this book because surely it wasnt rebekkah

there's so many small discrepancies that i cannot believe the sam author wrote this book, from the big ones like dianas character - to ysabeu speaking in a strange stilted way. the writing is clunky and weird to read. why would diana tell matthew to keep to the speed limit when he has the kids in the car? a protective vampire protects his own, that includes driving safely. all these small things add up
