Omg everyone sucks - do people still root for Catherine and Heathcliff at this point???????
I'm very bothered by the fact that the few analyses I've read of the last several chapters focus on their love for each other, but seem to brush over the characters that are collateral damage in their love

All the things Cathy says about her love and soulmate-ism for Heathcliff are poetic and I mourn for them as tragic lovers. When I'm not being delusional though, their relationship is a nightmare

Erik has several red flags already, girl why don't you see it??
I'm kinda lukewarm about Scott, but I do find his insight about Jennifer's outlook on romance interesting

I'm used to skipping the introduction in a book, but I felt compelled to read through Katherine Frank's intro. Reading about the Bronte sisters and Emily's life was fascinating, especially Frank's analysis that Bronte's fixation with starvation and the kitchen in this book stem from her own hunger strikes as a means to have control.

Already loving the concept of this book - this is a pretty accurate and loving representation of fangirl culture.
I might be okay even if the romance wasn't even a part of it 🤣

I resonate more with the later parts of this book, in the discussion of having horizontal and affirming relationships over vertical and praise/critical relationships, and living with courage leads to living happily

These emails between Alex and Henry are the sappiest, most romantic, best things I've read. Emails and letter writing in the modern day really are a lost art
