I am on Book 5 now! This has been terrific. I wish more authors compiled their series into one entire book. I don’t see it done very much but it is a wonderful way to keep reading right away after a book ends.

His imagination had gotten the better of him, had briefly taken him to a world where
he had a future, a destiny. But, the truth was, he was just an orphan boy from a village on the distantmost outskirts. He had no future. No destiny. And the magic of his daydreams had left the world long ago.

An entire series in one book! It looks like I have my reading for the rest of this month cut out for me.

“Not so long ago, this house and the land surrounding it had felt like an anchor around my neck, pulling me down, drowning me in responsibility and regret. But then somehow, inexplicably, the pack I’d initially seen as a burden became family. Dysfunctional and fractured, perhaps, but family all the same.” Awww

“Help us,” the banter bear cried, shaking its head. Then it caught sight of Barnaby. Barnaby saw it smile. It ambled toward him, mouth open and one arm outstretched. It looked even larger than before.” The banter bear is so creepy!

“You will live like that for the rest of your life, always at the mercy of the moonrise. There is no cure.” I gasped!

“You look like shit, Ruby.”
“Oh, well, that’s good,” the woman—Ruby—mumbles as the sound of pills jostling inside a bottle signals her success. “It always sucks to feel like hell but not look it, you know? It’s no good for garnering sympathy.” LOL

I am excited to pick up where I left off so soon! I love getting right into the next book knowing I won’t have forgotten much from the first.

My interest has dropped off a little in the middle to end. It feels to me more centered on the love triangle than the main plot at hand. However I am still enjoying this book and its characters.

That entire chapter had me with my heart in my throat!

Emerson hung up the phone and staggered to her feet. She rooted through the clothes on her floor, searching for something that didn’t smell like sweat, damp fabric, or mold. From her nightstand, his eyes stared out at her disapprovingly from the only picture she had left of him.
“Shut up.” She turned the photograph on its face.
“YOU left.” Somehow books that start with characters who are messes entices me more!

“If you don’t want to join us, Renée, then perhaps you should go. Leave. You’re quite skilled in leaving.” Ouch!

“Suffering is never deserved.” Bastien sheathed his sword. “To cause it is to be no better than the monsters we suffer.”

The presentation of this book is just wonderful, from the chapter headings to the illustrations at the very beginning. I haven’t gotten as far into it as I would have liked but finally have time to settle into it, and the story is hooking!

This wasn’t just some girl he’d met in Vegas.
It was Isla. Maybe he’d been half in love with her all along and hadn’t realized it. Or perhaps it had just taken him this long to see that she was everything he’d ever wanted. Either way, when it was someone like this, who he knew, who he only wanted to protect and be there for, who he was willing to risk everything for . . . it wasn’t hard to fall in love.” SO cute!

Because apparently her life was now a comedy being directed by Satan himself.” Lol I’m going to use that line one day.

Cowboy Hockey Man took a faltering step back, his gaze swiveling to Isla. “Oh sorry, man. I didn’t know she was
married.”
“That really shouldn’t have made a difference. She said no.” Yes I love how that was called out! Good job to Aiden.

Oh my God. So foul. “Yeah, never. I prefer real men to wankers.” She yanked herself free and turned to go, but the man was still too close behind her.” Lol! I just love Isla’s sass here

It isn’t an epic fantasy like this author’s last one, in fact it doesn’t seem to be a fantasy at all, but I am excited to try something new!

But somehow, she still felt like she was mine. The thought of Ciaran—or any other man—touching her, lusting after her made my blood churn, raw and possessive. Maybe I couldn’t have her, but I sure as hell didn’t want anyone else to, either.” Possessiveness is not always attractive but it is here that is for certain!
