I'm so lucky and grateful that this is now the 3rd straight book I've read that is amazing and fun to read.

I'm not overstating it when I say this is probably the best history book that I've ever read and maybe even the best book overall. It is THAT good. In 2 short years President Woodrow Wilson & Congress created the Council of Nat'l Defense, the U.S. Food Adm., the U.S. Fuel Adm., the War Industries Board, the Emergency Fleet Corp., the U.S. Grain Corp., the U.S. Housing Corp., and the War Finance Corp. Wilson also nationalized the railroads. It was a dramatic leap toward the megastate we now struggle under, and it couldn't have been possible in the absence of war.

After reading only half of this book, I don't understand at all how these principles and this philosophy aren't more widely accepted in our society and political arena, especially these days when a lot of changes have taken place in just 1 lifetime. Why aren't we reading different material like this when we're younger instead of learning fake stories about pilgrims and Indians?
