I read a fair amount of bad smut for comedy reasons, but this one is second only to DRACULA’S SECRET. This was definitely written with one hand and without an editor. The characters keep saying the same lines over and over again just in case you didn’t pick up that this guy is PLOTTING and he is DISGUISED AS SOMEONE ELSE and OMG SHE IS GOING TO BE SO SURPRISED. Incredible.

Lots of really good advice and reflections that I definitely want to implement in my own relationships. Too bad one of the authors is a massive PoS!

Chapter 13: This is probably the most useful part so far. Calling attention to the way traumatized people avoid intense feelings in general. Healing the lymbic system. I really needed to hear a lot of this.

I already know that one of the authors is problematic, so reading with that in mind. I like already how realistic the book is, the fact that it actually talks about the *downsides* of non-monogamy up front instead of taking an idealist position. Makes me feel like they aren't just going to blow smoke up my ass for 500 pages .

I am enjoying the heck out of this book. I still have no idea where it's going but I'm on board. Great character development!

Okay it's getting a little more interesting. I liked the section about the establishment of the USGS.

Thus far I'm honestly really disappointed with how dry this book is. It's always good to get a cartography refresher as someone who works in the field, but I was hoping for a far more engaging discussion of the ways that people use to mislead instead of what feels like a textbook. Gonna see if I can trudge through it but ugh.

OH MY GOD THE GHOST SMUT BOOK IS MAKING ME CRY. I was not expecting to be confronted with concepts of impermanence and the vulnerability of loving someone while knowing that everything ends. Good gracious.

good god this book is forever

The only reason I'm still going is that I paid money for this book. Literally the first 2/3 of this book is exposition, inane conversation and internal monologues. The amount of "things actually happening" could probably be contained in 10 pages or less. I will probably give up on this series after I finish this book.

Oh no...Jennifer. Did you forget to hire an editor again? The first two books of this series were actually pretty good. Unlike Blood and Ash which I rage quit at book four.

Anyway, so far it is waaaaaay too wordy. Way too much internal monologue. Someone said it get's better 2/3 of the way in, but honestly it just seems like stockholm sydrome at that point.

I was pretty unsure about this series, but this book (the 4th in the series lol) is FINALLY getting me engaged.

You know a book is actually semi-well written when it ACTIVELY STRESSES YOU OUT.

Lol less than 10 pages for the majority of the Mughal empire 😂
