Heather Ordover is 81% done with A Brilliant Life: My Mother's Inspiring True Story of Surviving the Holocaust
Mira’s story is as loving and heartfelt as her daughter Rachelle’s beautiful retelling of it. If your first reaction to a book about the holocaust is to turn away, think again. This book will remind you that Anne Frank was right, “despite everything, I believe that people really are good at heart.”

Mira's story is as beautiful and heartfelt as her daughter Rachelle's telling of it. If your reaction to a "book about the holocaust" is to look elsewhere for a good read, pause a moment here and check the other reader's comments. Far from a story that will break you, this book will remind you that Anne Frank was right, "Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart."

Stalled and likely not going back to it. I'm having a hard time. It feels like every page I read has something on it where I'm frustrated and saying "WHY didn't you hire an editor?" (or a really good editor...or take the advice of your editor!). Tonal inconsistencies, flaws in character logic, and an inability to convince me that the narrator was...well...who he says he is (physically or emotionally). V disappointed.

Must sleep... Please let me stop... Must close eyes. ("No, just turn the page," Zena said drowsily. "That's right... And again...")

It's an odd little Jasper Fforde book. Surprisingly took me a while to get into it, but I loved it just the same.

Took me a good 150 to get completely hooked, but now I am and it's worth it. What a world this author's created!

Hideously addictive books. My son read them and kept talking about them so I figured I'd better catch up. Not brilliant works of heartbreaking literature but VERY addictive page turners (if with copious typos).

Or whatever 39% is. Amy Detjen told me these were addictive. I should have listened.
