i'm so disappointed that the russell paradox wasn't explained. would the set of all set that do not contain themselves contain itself? its a real banger. i dont think that would have been too much to write out. smh. im enjoying this book a lot for all the philosophy references <3

finished the first essay and just gotta say this is even better than “on the shores of politics” already (is that even possible?) well. perhaps it is if one uses virginia woolf in their analysis oh oh oh i respect him so much. just love his writing style and manner of analysis and coming to conclusions!!! need to write like him.

okay so it became understandable because although he has a pretentious, heavily processed way of writing (which i love) he kept repeating himself enough for my stupid mind to start understanding the gist. really fucking good though, can’t wait for the other papers. (also—i read this in front of my old high school and due to it being filled with greek philo/ myths, it felt very on theme though a bit sentimental)

i’m not smart enough for this book but the parts that i understand and the way it is written make me feel like rancière may just become one of my favorite philosophers because this is just wonderful.

my attempt to finish this last week before giving it to my friend failed completely thus out of shame i still gave it to them to read meaning i will have to read the pdf to finish it (read of shame) & i deserve it.

i honestly have very few substantial opinions, i think book two was not as interesting as book one considering the lack of women. although andrei is absolutely amazing and remains my favorite character. (he is gay as fuck)
i’m getting more into it, though, and even though book 3 is mostly military it’s been my favorite so far. protect marya at all costs! my girl❤️

such an interesting book. part 2 does not hold up to part 1, though, i miss our girls!

this has been one of my favorite books i have ever read. i don’t think its one to devour in one go, for me its one i’ve been trying to savor. a few poems every now and then. i have not read anything this gorgeous in a long time. im sad ill have it finished soon i want to have a continuous streak of the poems in this bundle forever

autobiographies really are some of the best books ever. and ocean vuong just writes so beautifully. you can feel all of his pain, but also the love, the wonder, the life that he experiences through the pages. it is crazy. he writes so well, it is so clear how intelligent he is by the way he describes things, by the way he experiences them and gets out of it and explains it. i don’t know lol i am just in awe.
