Almost done with the story section... Now for the context and references!

Frustrating non-linearity aside, I'm thoroughly and surprisingly enjoying every page of this narrative! I especially love the back-and-forth focus on the anthropological gaze between (the persona?) Amitav and the subject(s). It's hard to believe that this is based on actual research.

Hopeless, simply hopeless. The descriptions of the atrocities of war from all perspectives is getting me insanely depressed.

Hating the writing style but the themes being explored come real close to the (Singaporean) heart

Enjoying every bit of this! I love the obscured distinction between the retrospective Meena of the narration and Meena of the past.

It gets better past the middle. Why is it always like this with the exceptionally long novels?!
