AB is solidly often a 3.5 star author for me, so I hate rating her on GR. I’m leaning 3.75 so I might round up On Here (especially for the people bombing it for being too tayvis inspired which…. she’s a huge swiftie so that really shouldn’t come as a surprise, idk what to tell you….). Really just thankful to have finished something after TVD/OVE bc omg….

I actually didn’t hate this one as much as the first, but its pace was similarly glacial/some of the fat in TVD could have been cut out to include the key moments of this book (but you know, publishing $$$$$) to make a more solid story overall. Lowkey was surprised by the ending because I didn’t know if she was going to go for it and she did! still probably giving it 2 stars tho sorry girl

found this when looking for modern retelling for hrcyed; premise sounded interesting but idk about this initial conceit with the father. lyes, maybe he is exploiting their stories, but the overarching argument that men shouldn’t be allowed to write stories about women ever??? I can’t get behind that (it should be done with care ofc, just like in any story that is written by a person w/ outside experience)

Like it’s not “breasting boobily” bad, but the way eve ross is being described is sooo aggressively thru The Male Gaze™️ and it makes me feel icky!!
