This is doubly impossible if you "own" (by which I mean have a mortgage on) a house and have kids.

Why did Heyer insist on giving men a pass at being lecherous manwhores?? The nearly entire page given to explaining how men are just that way and you can't get upset about it made me wanna puke.

And doubly a shame because the rest of this is so good so far!

This is feeling like it has some curse of the middle book tendencies: slow pacing, separated characters (WHHHHY), and what feels like a lot of filler. But most importantly, where is Qadir????

My 11th Heyer this year!!

Meh

A bit of a dud. I don't have any interest in continuing it, alas that it's a Netgalley.

Some insight to learn from, some to disregard, and all a bit on the repetitive side.

I appreciate that it's not "life hacks" to get more done, and more a mindset shift. His talk of "deep time" really resonated. It's the feeling you get when reading a lot of older literature, or especially for me, L.M. Montgomery. There's this sense of, for lack of a better term, timelessness that I crave when I read her books.

Needed a little break from Heyer and am so excited to dive into this one!

The first 30 pages had me dreading the rest of the book, but after Eustacie starts her "adventure", things improved IMMENSELY.

Not really feeling this one.

I think the title is overly dramatic for what the book is, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the friendship taking center stage over the romance.

Oooh, he arrives. Curious to see how this aspect of the story is written, as that could really make or break it.

I still don't like Worth, and Judith isn't doing a whole lot for me either.

Arabella had zero manhandling, and here already we have a forced kiss.

Gifted for my birthday so doing a little reread (that I thought was a first read whoops)

I'm just gonna wait for publication on this one. The formatting is driving me batty.

Good writing so far, interested to see what happens, but I could do without the Gideon storyline. (though where that will go, I suspect, runs deeper than the surface level)

Following up Heyer with a modern Regency book maybe not my best move but I'm trying to take this for what it is - not Heyer and a bit silly, but hopefully cute.

Despite the slower pace, I'm really enjoying this one!

I wish there was a stronger Christmas vibe. I would be doubly disappointed if I were reading the reprint version "A Christmas Party".
