me vs my currently reading shelf getting bigger and bigger...

ironic that the way i get my passion for reading back is the burning need to read this through tears

reading a paper book??? wild. for now this has had some bizarre takes & a lot of overgeneralising & exaggerated statements, which i think come from a place of maybe cynicism from having worked as a therapist & thus mostly seeing people with issues in their relationship. and a bit of the "im a therapist so i know what people are like & this is absolute knowledge not just my own theorising/opinion/experience" mixed in

just fyi this is the point where you should unfollow me if you dont wanna read about kink on your timeline, at the very least i'll be reading 5 books on it in the near future, likely more, so you have been warned. no hard feelings, respect your boundaries

this,,,, was not good lol. for example, when you say "the notion of why [women want/agree to sex] becomes redundant through its ability to be answered by pretty much anything" you've lost the plot, with all due respect. women being complex & living in a society means their reasons are redundant...? unfortunately not the only bs/bad faith argument in it. the good part was examining straight sex as a social phenomenon

im so frustrated w this book bc what it claims is the Scientific Truth™ is literally not fucking trueeeeeee!!!! never mind the fact that it feels very bad faith in general. at least its relevant for my exam next week (on the same topic among othet things) bc i keep being like yes thats true, no thats not true and this is why, lmao

i am once again reading too many books at the same time, but vibe check:
- this: having a good time
- tomorrow sex will be good again: deeply questionable start, feels pretty bad faith & flawed arguments (which is kind of what i assumed)
- acts of service: not sure its my vibe, but it has moments, ill finish it bc i started it

we are 44 pages in and freud has, seemingly out of thin air, decided the patient wanted to fuck his monther

i started this in july and its been so hard to finish bc the authir is a Cunt

found out the place i was listening from only has 9 chapters of the 26 :( found chapter 11-13, but theres nothing for 14-26. so if anyone wants to read those out loud lmao

im guessing the percentages here, but im through the first chapter! cried for 40% of it

disagree with almost every word of the authors preface, starting off strong!

i keep learning the most interesting things and im just!!!! rlly wanna do a thesis on pain/masochism/smth like that bc theres so much there to explore!! going nerdcore

this really is gorey, which Really isnt my thing, so theres a lot of wincing etc involved and its quite hard to get through, nevermind how long it is in audiobook format (11h30). but it is also funny in the way masochists are when we talk about pain, and i think thats what gets me through the long sections of painfully (lol) graphic descriptions. and ofc its super interesting, if it wasnt i wouldnt still be reading

i wanna finish this so bad rn, but it would be 2 more hours, and its 1am, so instead im gonna sleep (pls be proud of me babe)
