Didn’t get past the end of the sample. Not for me.

What gem have I found? What I thought was a fairly masculine dystopian story has, in its early chapters, become a hilarious coming of age tale, with some genuinely superb quotes on teaching and becoming an adult. I really hope this level of writing continues throughout the rest of the book, then I can devour the rest of Nick’s books.

A DNF for me; hugely overlong; that I have another four hours of reading after eight already has pushed me to this. Characters and events just are not sufficiently engaging to carry on. There’s been an explosion of time-travel books recently and sadly, there’s been nothing new in this one. Perhaps as two novels the story may have captivated me more.

So deathly slow - nothing much is happening, no page turning reveals as yet, and can’t imagine any on the horizon. Am I wasting my time? The best thing is life imitating art on all the reviews and on Twitter.

Possibly the best book Jasper Fforde has written. I won a copy in a competition (thank you, Book Fairies!). Unputdownable.

Stagnation.... Just can't get into it.
