Don’t know what’s gotten into me, three books at once. Another super interesting concept and a page turner. IMO this feels super reminiscent of Alexander Michaelides and Lucy Foley so far.

Tiktok has struck again. Cover art is A+ given the premise of the book which was what intrigued me, initially. I’m surprised by the writing style and how gross and detailed things are this early into the book. I was expecting heavy Y/A themes. We shall see

C.B. has become one of my favorite authors. Where Brandon Sanderson has a gift for writing up magic systems, C.B. has an insane talent for dialogue. Character interactions feel effortlessly authentic and capture the time period with blunt realism, immersive af. I rarely laugh out loud when reading but he wrote a throwaway description, calling a background character a “tiny squirt of piss”. Got me. 😔😂

Such a page turner but only because I want to be done. Reading this feelings like wanting to leave somewhere but it’s not time to go yet

Against my will, Sydney Sweeney is who I would cast as Natalie. The irony of SS’s hyper visible, commodified femininity perfectly reinforces the themes throughout the book so far. This would make a great retrograde/ideological horror movie

Notes of GOT, and a beauty and the beast (I hate everyone but you) trope. Was not expecting such gruesomeness. FMC shares similarities to Maomao and Mizu (iykyk)

I need a stand alone palette cleanser - hopefully this will satiate my yearning for apothecary diaries, szn3 😩 seems to have that vibe so far

It’s the 80s. No phones- The Cotswolds, events and dinners, fox hunts, polo matches, rich British people who love horses, classism, infidelity, and the peanut gallery

A slow start can be worth it for rich narration and well-developed characters. The distinct tones Mr. Tim gives each character just makes the time passing more immersive with each chapter. Love a “fated-daughters and their familiar” trope; An animated series by Dory Whynot, similar to Blue Eyed Samurai, would be amazing.

Tim Curry narration feels like a warm hug :,)

There’s three more parts… Just when you think this can’t get worse, there can’t be more. The characters are grossed out and uncomfortable, I’m grossed out and uncomfy but I can’t put this down.

Only took nine chapters to finally learn FMC’s name 🤦‍♀️ Katie, I’m stressed and revolted

Not one for self help books or religious self help but this touched me and I’ll keep going back to it and recommending it as much as I can.
