This book is memoir rather than a story. There is not real plot to speak of. More like a description of the people and the lives they led at that time. It’s bringing us up to modern day in a slow winding way. It’s beautifully written with poetic use of literary writing. I think k I will end up giving it a 3 because I like a plot.

Interesting. The style can be a bit hard to follow in places. Lots of jumbled conversations and it time hops in the middle of situations. I’m getting used to it. Very atmospheric.

Just started it and it is good reading making me want to read mire. Not sure how it’s going to go in that it is set on a ship and so far I believe that is the sole location through the story.
