Incredibly innovative idea for a book structure- feels entirely new and is stirring up lots in me!!

Serious contender for my favourite book- period.
I had high hopes for this one and they’re all being met, thank god.

Reading a novel about my culture (rare) and actually understanding all the references is proving to be so affirming and emotionally loaded for this mixed heritage baby. Needed this more than I realised.

Stunning, immersive writing. Long live the Women’s Prize.

And my libby loan has expired. great. will finish it off *at some point*

I just love this author and have done for so so long.
She was literally in town on tour for this book this month and I stupidly missed the opportunity to go see her.
Marriage is such a loaded topic in general, but also very much so for me personally. Now having listened to a quarter of this book, I know it would’ve done me some good to see a talk about it in person, and by such an icon to me no less

Who would’ve thought the most violently 2015 book with a literal hashtag in the title could pull me out of a reading slump, but alas. Despite some of the initial cringe, the messaging is great and I don’t want people to underestimate what this book has to say! Here for it.

TJR can do no wrong. Cementing her place as my favourite author as we speak. Reading over 200 pages in one sitting just drives my point home.

I’m reading this for a book club and while I was one of the people to vote for a romance read in the first place- I just do not care about their romance so far; I’m left so unconvinced.
But, big yay for the representation- Yoon writes characters really in a really sure and strong way.
We’ll see how it picks up, still only a quarter of the way in so I’ll give it a solid chance.
