I am not sure why the author felt the need to put a major spoiler in the preface but it really has muted my excitement to read this I’m not going to lie

Absolutely harrowing. Might have to put this down for a while

This is going to be a dense one

Blown away by this so far. I think the titles a bit misleading though. My read is that the US gov wasn’t actively hiding their territories. More that they couldn’t have cared less about their wellbeing based on white supremacist ideals. Not surprising but an altogether different

Back to nonfiction gang 🤠

Honestly dreading where this book is heading

🚨 Hunter x Hunter mentioned 🚨

So when does this get good? Or is it going to just be sad the whole time

So far really good. Lots of discussion about how US action in Latin America has lead to mass migration, something seldom talked about when we talk about “illegal immigration”. I’ve also learned a lot about the annexation of Texas and how the US essentially invaded Mexico and annexed modern California, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. in the name of capital and “Manifest Destiny”.

It’s like watching someone crank a Jack n the box. Just waiting for the gut punch

Really tired of hearing men’s voices described as “rough” or “gravelly”

Man i sure hope this has a happy ending 😀

Really good so far but i can’t with the spicy scenes. I’ve started skipping them

“The Atomic bomb was no longer the stuff of science fiction, and the question now was what to do with it.”

Saying how the book ends in the introduction is… a choice

Approaching stinker territory

Rereading this one because i first read it as an audio book. I remember feeling like someone was putting words feelings that i didn’t have the vocabulary or awareness to say myself, and so far i am not disappointed

Kind of dragged in the middle ngl. Still a banger
