Honestly dreading where this book is heading

So when does this get good? Or is it going to just be sad the whole time

So far really good. Lots of discussion about how US action in Latin America has lead to mass migration, something seldom talked about when we talk about “illegal immigration”. I’ve also learned a lot about the annexation of Texas and how the US essentially invaded Mexico and annexed modern California, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. in the name of capital and “Manifest Destiny”.

It’s like watching someone crank a Jack n the box. Just waiting for the gut punch

Really tired of hearing men’s voices described as “rough” or “gravelly”

Man i sure hope this has a happy ending 😀

Really good so far but i can’t with the spicy scenes. I’ve started skipping them

Rereading this one because i first read it as an audio book. I remember feeling like someone was putting words feelings that i didn’t have the vocabulary or awareness to say myself, and so far i am not disappointed

I have had this book on my shelf for probably 3 years now and I’ve been putting off reading it fearing that it would be very dry, but it’s actually really interesting. Looking forward to reading the rest

Had some good points and information, but it felt like propaganda at times. I think the main points were good though

Perhaps the most predictable mystery I’ve ever read. but still entertaining and the audio version is great.

This book gives me anxiety. Really just puts your perspective off axis and makes you look at world events and the news differently

This book is one of the most eye opening books I’ve ever read and I’m only 30% through. Chapter 1 has a description of the US Propaganda model. Chomsky discusses the importance of a free press in democratic society, and how mass media has lead to the consolidation of the press under the umbrella of big business, the government, and the wealthy. It has largely become a machine for controlling public opinion.

60 page introduction followed by a preface is nasty work
