DNF @ 83%. It's been so long and I'd already been forcing myself to get as far as I did, I just can't bring myself to go back to finish.

He's still got the book from Lanyon! Oh how I wish boring Andrew would go away and chapter 2 could just be extended to become the whole book...

Having trouble understanding what they're talking about on this page... what did andrew get help with? Being a conscientious objector, like it would have been too hard if not for a community backing him up in the decision?

Here's hoping this Andrew gets a decent personality, because I'm gonna be honest, there isn't much that I'd find less inspiring than "quaker"...

Okay, really liking so far. It's very vague in its queerness, you kind of just have to assume what they're talking about. This bit between Laurie and the prefect lanyon is kinda cute ngl.. and correct me if I'm wrong, but is there a kiss here!??:

So like. There's a question mark before every cut off bit of dialogue like "this?—"
....and I'd love to know if that was some kind of formatting error in the file, or if the author and/or editor thought that looked right...

Bored... and really not enjoying this sex scene

So they're going to discover major secrets of ancient greece... in a little countryside town... in england?

What a bizarre decision for their first sex scene... first of all, I hate it when first kiss and first fuck come at the same time. But that's unfortunately pretty standard, it seems. Weirdest thing about this is that they've decided dirty talk = talking about your sexual experiences with another man who killed himself immediately after.

Is it too much to ask for us to NOT get the typical AH 3rd act breakup? I'm sure it's coming, but I really don't want it to...

Gotta stop giving YA a chance :/ I was excited for this concept, but it's OVERLY ya. Also going too hard on pop culture references, and spending a good majority of a chapter talking about movies (in a world where they cannot watch any movies) so andrew can be a film snob and go 'ugh, marvel, typical straight boy. I must educate you on REAL film. ohh did he notice the straight comment!!'

Kinda annoyed by the fact that Bridget is supposed to be levelheaded and prob the most experienced with how a relationship like this might work, but her and Gwen keep kissing in public with a bunch of potential witnesses around.. y'all fuckin stupid?

Ew?? Why tf are arthur and gwen kissing? I already know they aren't endgame (would never have given it a chance if they were), but it's seriously reading like the author wanted them to be. They get more development w each other than with their ACTUAL love interests. This scene feels like "you can't know ur gay if you haven't had straight sex before!!"

Current thoughts.. Gwen is annoying, Bridget is completely flat. They have no romantic chemistry. Arthur and Gabriel are just BARELY better, but tbh I think they'd be cuter if it leaned into their childhood connection, like Arthur was so mean to Gwen bc he wanted Gabriel's attention or sth. Take abt stuff that happened between them as kids. But it's nearly played like they've been perfect strangers to this point.

Not a big fan of "playboy" romantic leads, hoping we get literally any interaction between Arthur and Gabriel soon.. they've spoken about 2 lines with each other so far, yet we've heard about multiple of Arthur's other exploits. We've also had significantly more content regarding Gwen and the lady knight, and they're pretty much strangers. Gabriel and Arthur SHOULD be seeing each other somewhat regularly, no?

Terrible timing for a sex scene.. how am I supposed to enjoy this when all I'm thinking is that y'all have to GO NOW OR BE BURNED AT THE STAKE
