Petar is on page 300 of 593 of The Nightingale
this is the highest rating of a book i’ve seen on the app and tbh it might even earn a five star from me. This reminds me so much of the Book Thief by Zusak, a novel that I used to love so much years ago. I read these 300 pages in no time and to be honest Kristin Hannah is one of my favourite contemporary writers, so I didn’t expect anythings less.

halfway done, honestly I don’t know how I feel about this. The multigenerational story kinda sold me, I love novels like Pachinko for example that tells a story for multiple generations, this however idk it really feels like i’m reading bunch of short stories, every chapter is a new book. It is good story but I really did not expect this

i genuinely don’t know how murakami always manages to write masterpieces and make me care so deeply about whatever he’s writing. I want to read it slower so I’d digest better, so I read one story here and then but every time i’m left speechless, the amount of depth he creates in 40 pages stories is mesmerising, his stories are just interesting, entertaining, relatable and really meaningful.

I usually dislike reading short stories and often struggle to find the point of reading them. But I’m on the course of reading everything written by Murakami and by everything I mean everything. But at slow pace, cause life is too short, however it can feel too long if you don’t have a murakami book to make it more bearable.

out of the dystopian trio, Brave New World is the book I haven’t yet read. I finished the first chapter and I can say this is genius, the amount of research and knowledge you need to have to explain these processes in the lab is not a joke. I genuinely don’t even know how does a person think of such idea of a plot. This will not be your typical book. Thrilling start.

I’ve had this book on my tbr for like three years now, so it finally feels like the right time to start it. I just finished the first chapter, and my expectations are hella high since it basically won every award out there. I’m really liking the writing so far. I’m guessing the beginning will mostly be character building and setting things up, but it already reminds me of Little Life, which I absolutely loved.

this is … borderline problematic to say the least, however I like how detailed Bukowski describes the lost of innocence and corruption of the mind from the lenses of a small boy

The craziest thing about this is not the war, it’s the scene where someone tries to propose to the gf of the main character and asks him to translate for him and the guy with 0 hesitations agrees. I’m struggling to believe how realistic this is.

Update on Remarque: the prose is just wow. He just writes so beautifully, reading him truly transports me to another time and place. It makes me reflect on how tough people had it,especially as I write this from the comfort of my home. There’s so much to love here: the wisdom woven between the lines, the social message it carries the moral weight of survival. It’s many things hidden behind an overage love story.

downed the first hundred pages and i’s kind of hilarious. The author could do stand-up comedy. Not surprisingly, it’s very accessible. Characters feel grounded and real. The relationship between the sisters is so wholesome and funny. It’s kind of weird reading modern lit because it feels less formal in a way, very chill to read. There’s plenty of dialogues, making it engaging. Generally great to kill time.

this is one of the rarest times where mr. Murakami just doesn’t seem to get to the point. This is hands down the weirdest book i’ve read in my life and it feels like i’m reading it for years

I hate it when authors make you care for the characters, like i’m well aware of what the author’s gonna do here and i’m not even sure if i can prepare mentally and emotionally for that

Jack London has become one of my current literary admirations. Every time I read him, I feel pulled into an abyss. On the surface, this book is simple, nothing profound seems to happen, but beneath that simplicity are layers of meaning, quietly hidden. I truly believe there’s a specific time and place in life when this story will hit. But he’s a specific author, you either love him or you find him utterly boring.

I sat down to read this tonight, the fact is I bought this in 2020 when it was trendy, but it’s been collecting dust on my shelf ever since. I started reading it for extra motivation for my exams, started off nice, seems extremely accessible. I’d recommend to non-readers, so far nothing groundbreaking in terms of new information I’m getting. I don’t know what to expect from this book. It’s borderline okay.

I actually love the vibe. The friendship that these guys have is so special, I love how it’s pretty much character based rather than a plot based. I start to care a lot about Jude and Willem and tbh I’m a little bit anxious. Safe to say I know the rep this book has and I’ve been meaning to read it for almost three years now. I’m in a perfect moment of my life, where I can handle the trauma. Bring it on!
