Normally I’m not a romance reader, picked this one up for sharks. The main character gets fired for explaining the toxic algae situation in the Great Lakes within the first 10 pages. The author attempts to claim a “clutter-obesity connection” that doesn’t hold once you poke around in what’s available of the paper she cites and related academic resources. To claim a connection is a risky reach, only paper I can find from the time explicitly relating to obesity studies the relationship between obesity and hoarding disorders, which is a more severe problem than this book should handle

(2/2) There’s a piece in John’s second chapter, while he’s been acknowledging Harrow at the end of each, that only makes sense if he’s addressing planet Earth directly (last paragraph of p. 74). Combining that with the fact planets have souls, I think Nona is in part LITERALLY PLANET EARTH. There is very little to back this up so far but I’m running with it.
