It’s definitely challenging due to what I find to be an atypical use of language. The good kind of challenging that makes you truly engage with the text. Paul B. Preciado does a fantastic job of describing our current state of being in a way that dismantles the definitions prescribed by systems of power and oppression.

Solid 3.5⭐️
I wish the pacing was a touch faster. there’s a lot of lore being revealed though, so I can forgive that it’s taking a minute to really wind up. There’s a lot of information and I had been worried it would be difficult to keep track of, or that there would be a lot of information. The reveals feel natural. I don’t feel that info is being withheld/revealed unnecessarily just for the sake of it

So far so good. Definitely YA vibes and some of the world building feels a little loose and could have been solidified a bit more but I’m also less than half way through so that could change. I’m having fun though and I’m certainly compelled by the story.

Definitely insightful. Definitely targets cis and non-queer people and can feel a little redundant if you already understand queer terminology. Shon Faye does do a really good job with making the language accessible and diverse in the groups of people that she includes. A very good starting place so far.

There’s a polycule and at least one non-binary character named moss. 10/10
