Did I not notice that not to readers on nearly every other volume in the series? Cause most of these 38 volume covers have characters on them that haven't been involved in the plot for a while. The entire point is to draw the characters you've been missing to remind you they still exist, but just aren't a part of what's happening rn. I should go check if that's on all of them, cause if so that's hilarious of Viz.

So in other words, Viz doesn't trust us to not already know by volume 38 that Yoshihiro just draws whatever he wants on the covers, even if it's not related to that particular volume. This is the running theme of the covers. How would we not know that by now? Silly Viz publishing...

I am instantly reminded of the haunting of tram car 015. Guy shows up and has to solve mystery in the span of a short story.

If I haven't said it yet, I totally ship Minato and Saiga. I don't think it'll happen, this is not the sort of series to have anything to do with romance. But their dynamic is really cute anyway. Minato makes the talismans, Saiga exorcises the evil spirits. If this were the type of series to have any romance at all, I have no doubt they would end up together after a year or two of thinking the other isn't interested.

I like the chapter where all the local wildlife gets povs. That was neat. And it didn't completely humanize them. It kept them animal-like. More of this in fiction. I like it.

I wonder how far the anime is going to get when it comes out next month. I don't think it'll get all the way to meeting the fox. It might not even get past book 1 in season 1. Either way I'm so excited

Anno left specific instructions in Eva 2.0 for the animators to draw the power lines in as much detail as possible, then he would go in later and draw the finishing touches himself. This is what happens when you get extremely passionate about a very niche thing.

The concept artist not only drew every detail of the machinery which was to be computer animated for the second ghost in the shell movie, but he also made diagrams explaining how the technology works. All of this stuff could potentially be invented. It literally works with regular wiring. Holy S/PDIF Batman!

I apparently like reading about characters being really stupid. How is this a surprise to me? Literally all my favorite books have lovable idiots as the main characters. Not idiots as in not smart. I mean idiots in terms of doing all the things that will hurt them emotionally, because they crave the chaos it brings. Why? I don't know. It's just fun to yell at them in my head as I'm reading.
