Eghhhhh 😝 I can’t, I can’t do it. I tried! There were some good parts, but the bad writing makes the sappy moments worse than just cringey.

Rereading/listening to this series really is like a long hug. I needed this.

Ugh. I’m not going to finish this one.

I can’t tell if this book is any good because I’m listening to the audiobook, and the narration is so bad.

I love this book. I need more of this humor in my life.

As the main character is slowly tortured, so are we with the slowest burn, a scrambled non-linear timeline, and repetitive horrors done to numerous women. I still want to know if they finally get together, but it really feels like it’s not worth it.

The straw that broke this camel’s back was a description of an albatross supposedly small enough to perch on someone’s shoulder. Check your ornithology!

Switched to audiobook at 70%. The sound quality is terrible. Tons of crackling noises that I don’t hear when I listen to other audiobooks.

A bit than book 1 so far. There’s action but the plot & character development are slow.

In “romantic” fictional narratives where multiple women are competing for the same man, this is where you can see the normalized misogyny some women have against each other. The male in question is rarely held accountable for their bad behavior or cruelty against one or multiple women, but the “competition” (other women) are vilified in innumerable minute ways. I’m seeing a bit of that here.

I feel like I space out when reading or listening to books that have a (slump?) of bad writing in the middle. Ironically, they’re the parts of the book I re-read numerous times because I’m just not taking in the plot points. If I put it down during one of these parts, I’ll likely never pick it up again.

Kind of hope she kills them all and just rules the world with her sister.

The tedious descriptions of everyone’s little micro expressions are wearing me down. They don’t even make sense. How can someone’s eyes constantly change colors and be “both light and dark.” Dear lord, buy a thesaurus!

Wow, that’s gory

This book is a hot mess so far. Disorganized, dramatic ups and downs but the author is trying to accomplish much in a small amount of time and nothing makes sense.

“The palace was bustling with tall, gorgeous fae. Most of them didn’t even glance at me, like it was common for women to be dragged through their halls. Not a good sign.” 😆

Ummm it’s a tough sell to try and convince readers that a woman in her right mind could fall in love with a superhuman guy who commits genocide.

I’m most of the way through it and the arguments just aren’t strong enough. It’s just too much like rooting for Hitler. I can’t get past the cold brutality of his actions.

Things happen, but there’s no clear focus to the books. Unremarkable.
