Nice local color for us Angelenos. A good choice to read if you’re interested in Hollywood depicted honestly (minus the whole it’s haunted here and there bit). It means she talks about the painful traffic we go through haha

I’m reading the digital copy, but I hear the audiobook for this is something fun. ;)

This book contains six of Freud’s works. Which I will review independently. It begins with “Psychopathology of Everyday Life.”

I enjoy Freud’s Feverish associative thinking.

Freud’s a sleuth of the mind.

Ok, so Agatha is ahead in the usage of the “Cinderella Complex.” Before it was named by psychology.

“And since the house will be searched by everyone to try and find it, then the shoe must be got out of the house or destroyed. But it is not so easy to destroy a shoe. The easiest way is to take it in a bus or train in a parcel in the rush hour and leave it thrust down under the seat.”

This bothers me because destroying a shoe is rather easy, and going on a train to get rid of it is a harder thing to do.

Superfluous writing, as is common with older works. It draws you in eventually, but it will have to get better if I am to invest more time in Agatha novels. Perhaps another piece of hers is much better?
Too soon to tell, but I hope it gets better.

I did not expect Schubert to show up, but he did. Winterreise Gute nacht

I’m always in such awe at how Robert Cormier not only so perfectly defines adolescence with his stories, but reaches into the adult, and revives those long forgotten feelings.

Here, though the setting is a private catholic high school, we have an excellent metaphor for how society functions, the symbiosis of criminal and government.

Read if you want to get a worthy glimpse behind those oh so smooth personas…

Right now in the whole of science we’ve entered into a period like that five centuries ago in geography:any half-baked ship’s captain in a dilapidated schooner could set out to sea in any random direction and return having discovered a couple of new straits, if not a new archipelago! Now, just in the same way, in the sciences kids tackle problems…and in three months’ time they’ve already found the solution.
