this is insane I hate this. you mean to say this man worked in restaurants for EIGHT MONTHS, did 2 yrs of "research" (questionable), & borrowed between 500k & 1 mil from his daddy who he has spent half of the first fifth of this book shit talking to open. I already know what I'm taking away from this one & it's that we could all benefit from having 2% of the audacity of a rich white man.

okay I'm almost done with this. it's really good, great even– great voice, great storyteller. but it's starting to feel... long. I'm a little sick of hearing about 11 madison park. to be fair the story is super cool, but I just don't know how many people want to hear about this extremely high end restaurant for an ENTIRE book. wishing for more mgmt advice applicable to those not working as GM of an nyc institution.

I have so many feelings about this already & I'm trying to be open minded & just listen for rn but it is hard. I am really struggling with the AA=bad & alcoholic label=bad. I firmly believe that very different steps/systems/labels work for different people. it's one thing to say "AA didn't work for me" or "I prefer to be called a non-drinker" but calling AA & "alcoholic" bad for everyone because u don't like them...

why is so much of this book her recapping what has already happened over & over
