I find her approach to be aesthetically pleasing, it is quite clean and has strong contrast. I admire her commitment to using black, as well as her play on symmetry. Her ability to modernize a space is incredible

The photography is good: it is beautifully composed, framed & shot. I just wished that a book on interior design would allow for more intimacy with the humans who live/work/navigate in these spaces.

Hmmm maybe because I’ve enjoyed the film and seen it so many times before reading, I’m not as invested or excited by the book. I enjoy reading over what was altered for the film but I’m finding the sisterly affection which was so important in the film to be quite toxic in the book. Is that a spoiler?

I enjoy listening to books that are read by their authors. Hearing Jonathan Van Ness narrate their book feels like they’re sharing their story with just me, over tea and biscuits. They don’t hold back on hard topics and are somehow able to find humour & shed optimism through all the multicoloured chapters of their life.
