It's LGBTQ???

This is an unusually long book. I have completed half of it which is the length of a full length book of fiction and there have been no positive or romantic emotions so far. It is a family drama with two despicable main characters. The plot revolves around he did this so she felt this and she did this so he felt this. You can listen to it if you are really bored but it is such a missable book otherwise.

28 pages and there are so many things that are racing through my mind. This is the benefit of being a multi published author because you are writing simply improves and by sheer repetition you start writing good books

This is not a romance book it is a book about abuse. He is a horrible man who is physically and emotionally violent with her. I hate that a female army officer is painted as a doormat who doesn't have the basic sense to fight her abuser be it a husband or a family friend. It is infuriating to read that this is categorized as a romance book when no reader should think of it that way. THIS IS NOT ROMANCE.

Usually abusive romantic books are about the guy forcing a girl into marriage out of Revenge but this is the exact opposite situation and it is still toxic but a bit novel to read.

I've never read a book about a man this old who transforms and pines for his wife after she has left him. Usually it is slightly younger men in marriage in trouble romance books like the one Ana Huang writes. So this book was a total curveball. I hadn't thought that I would read such a book in 2025 or in any other year, but I am liking it a lot. It is good to believe in love surviving through a marriage. Nice plot.

I'm probably in the last 10% of people who wanna read a romance book with the later in life trope. I don't recall the blurb of this book or what made me pick it, so I was shocked when I started reading it and realised that it's about an elderly couple. Then I thought that obviously it's gonna be a book about women empowerment where she walks out on a bad husband. Imagine my surprise when he changes.

0 stars to this book! It is LGBTQ not chicklit. I was enjoying the messy narrative around the big aunt, second aunt, & fourth aunt. The book should've been centered on them. It all went sideways the moment they were kidnapped by a weird bridesmaid. First Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo and now this book, why do authors hide the fact that their book is homosexual to gain publicity by a catchy title that says otherwise?

The gifts subplot is unnecessary and unappealing
